Cuando Los Muertos Suspiran - When the Dead Sigh - Cemican - 2020 (Aztec Folk Metal)
Spirits that listen, ceremonial songs. Waiting for the time, without fear of walking
Ximeua, ximiyotl, amaj iuan nochipa
(Get up, breathe, today and always)
Ni mitz yolmajtok, amaj iuan nochipa
(My heart feels you, today and always)Dead, alive
Duality between flowersJade, dust
Living blood, eternal fireAncestral altars
Horizons shine
Mysterious harmonyWhen the dead sigh
Looking through memories
When the dead sigh
From the underworld come now
Cemican means "The Duality of Life and Death" in Nahuatl. Their songs are written in both Spanish and Nahuatl.
Like many crows, I moonlight as a reverse psychopomp, and with the advent of October, it means it's ectoplasm season, and it's time to get ready to greet the ancestors.
And no one raises the dead quite like the Aztecs - can't beat that death whistle as an alarm clock.
