Rough me up an’ I can’t do a thing
Pick up my line when my telephone ring

Trail me down ‘‘cause I’m hangin’ with the Snowman
What I’m gonna do I’m backed an’ I’m trapped

Welp, I don’t understand more of that song than I did

Mastengwe,

Soooo…. That’s complete nonsense.

Delphia,

I read an article on this once (from memory so dont quote me) but the guy grew up with a lot of Jamaican immigrants and their kids and picked up Jamaican Patois and the associated slang and street terms as a second language, he was also a rapper. Its been called cultural appropriation by some people… personally I think growing up with people of a different ethnicity and learning their language AND making art with it is a bit different but people will make their own judgements.

Its a mash up of english and that but Its not nonsense if you speak the language.

CptInsane0,

It’s about blasting snitches.

What's a licky boom boom down?

fiat_lux,

I'm not a Jamaican patois speaker, but I think it's "A licky boom boom dem" and translates to "Are ass-lickers, them".

I love that this song only exists because a denim company wanted to use the Smashing Pumpkins song ‘Today’ and were told no.

So they hired a bunch of lads and they churned out this banger.

The lyrics are the most grunge-pastiche nonsense ever written and work perfectly.

What kind of chip you got in there, a Dorito?

NOPper,

FMT99,

You’re using a 286? Don’t make me laugh. Your Windows boots up in what, a day and a half?

BadWolf,

You could backup your whole hard drive on a floppy diskette. You’re the biggest joke on the internet.

jpreston2005, in Third Eye Blind - Semi-Charmed Life [1997]

huh. This song in this video has been chopped up. a portion of it is missing.

And when the plane came in, she said she was crashing The velvet it rips in the city, we tripped on the urge to feel alive Now I’m struggling to survive Those days you were wearing that velvet dress You’re the priestess, I must confess Those little red panties they pass the test Slides up around the belly, face down on the mattress

One And you hold me, and we are broken Still it’s all that I wanna do, just a little now Feel myself, heading off the ground I’m scared, I’m not coming down No, no And I won’t run for my life She’s got her jaws now locked down in a smile But nothing is alright, alright

bold text lyrics were removed, I wonder why

Is liking the same movie enough to base a serious relationship on? 🤔

ptz,
@ptz@dubvee.org avatar

I’ve seen people get married with less to work with than that 🤷‍♂️ 😆

aeronmelon,

Pre-9/11, it was good enough a reason to write a feelgood pop rock song that got healthy radio play.

gregorum,

I had a really good hook

ThePantser,
@ThePantser@lemmy.world avatar

Well people get married over getting knocked up from a one night stand. The only thing they had in common was they fucked so at least liking a movie together is at least some sort of emotional commonality.

gregorum,

Apparently not
