RIP Mars, 2010 - 2024
This morning I found Mars run over by a car. I miss him very much. We got him from the shelter and he showed his gratitude every day. He was cuddly, playful, a rascal and very curious. Wherever I was, Mars wasn't far away and he spent many cuddly hours on my lap. I am stunned and incredibly sad. My heart is broken and I am crushed 🖤

@evelynefoerster It turned out yesterday, that there was a #BlackCat to be given away. She is very friendly and calm. We instantly decided to take her.
Her name was something like Nanya or some gibberish. Since we name or cats either after candy bars or ancient gods, we decided to call her Hera (the wife of Zeus). Mars was both a candy bar and the god of war. 🤣

She’s beautiful. I hope you have many happy years with her. We kept our cats’ names (but modified a little) when they came.
They never replace the previous one. They make a new place. There is always room in our hearts to love another one…
(Meggie’s companion was a good example of why we change names - I may be an ‘online huggy’, but there’s no way I would have stood out in the garden every night shouting “Snuggles”. 🤣🤣🤣 She became “Snugs”. I still miss her every day, but I love young Laurie just as much)

We do always have a place in our hearts for each and everyone - to make a new place is for sure the phrase 👍 🥰 Today I could collect the urn and a print of Mars paw, wasn't easy, but it never is...I'm sure you miss her and love Laurie - thats how it works 😻 ❤️
@paulfoerster@evelynefoerster He has discovered that if he gets in the cupboard it amplifies his purring, which is already very loud. His new favourite way to wake me in the morning is to get on the shelf in the bedside cabinet & purr as loudly as he can.

Yes, he doesn’t lack brains - between the amplified purring, & nibbling our toes (& licking the soles of our feet) under the duvet, there’s no way we can ignore him. The only way to stop him is to get up & feed him!
He’s a fun cat, & slightly weird! 🤣🤣🤣

Snuggles was 12 years old when she came to us, & hubby refused to let me change the name as she was 'used to it'.
I couldn't think of anything that sounded similar, so we shortened it to Snugs...
She is the ginger cat in my avatar. She was only with us for 2 yrs, but is still missed every day. She was so full of fun & character. (And yes, she was VERY snuggly!)

Time doesn't matter - as soon as we have them in our lives, they are part of our family and when they're gone, they missed. She sure was a beauty and ginger cats are usually very snuggly and calm cats.🥰
We did our best to make her happy (she had spent 6 months in the shelter before she adopted us) & we enjoyed every moment with her. 2 years was not long enough!
She became our "Meeter & Greeter" as she was always waiting for us by the back door, whenever we came home.
She used to sit in a chair by the dining table & 'will' hubby to save her a little meat from his meal. We miss her leaping on our laps every time we sit down, & her very loud purr.
(Laurie has a loud purr too - it's the one spec I asked 'the angels' for, before they brought him)

😻 Ginger cats are IMO very calm and peaceful cats. And snuggly! 🥰 In her short time with you, I'm convinced that she had the best time of her life ❤️

@evelynefoerster I miss him too. 😢 I never forget when he jumped onto my shoulders when he lived here just for a few days. He's been a true friend ever since. 💔
