before I get back to editing the video, thanks again to @superblindman for the advocacy and hard work to make #forza accessible. I can't wait to show this off on my podcast. I plan to use one of the races from today to do this. #Forza#BlindGamesPresents#Games#Tffp#Podcast
@weirdwriter@superblindman you are most welcome. Sorry about the hick up. It's been a long week. I'll discuss my 3 month absence on the podcast, just know that I am ok. very excited, and ok.
I wanted to love #forza. I know a lot of #blind folks are having success with it. So I grabbed gamepass to try it out. However, after setting my #accessibility settings, I was dumped into a tutorial requiring me to complete a lap. The controls were not explained, and I have absolutely no idea what they are. None of the audio queues were explained, and I have absolutely no idea what they mean. None of the voice prompts were explained, and I have absolutely no idea what "right 4" means or what to do about it. I have no idea what rewind does, or exactly how it changes the game state. I spent over three hours trying to complete that lap, and gave up. I tried every button on the xbox controller, every button on the keyboard, and all possible combinations of xbox controller inputs, to try and exit the tutorial or bring up a help menu. I had no success. I googled for a forza manual, and found nothing useful. I watched blind streamers, who explained nothing. I have no idea how to continue.
@fastfinge not sure if you saw my stream on it? I won't say I tutorialize, because I myself was very much a first time player going into the deep end but I do spend quite a bit of time looking at menus and how the accessibility stuff works throughout the stream. No idea if it will help you but give it a try :) https://twitch.tv/zersiax
@fastfinge a few things to keep in mind if you do look at that stream: For the first bit I'm very much just figuring stuff out, and I go look at control schemes nd such a bit later. I eventually figure out that rt is accelerate, lt is brake and y is rewind on the controller. Mentioning that here because I don't mention it out loud initially. It also helps to look at the chat feed, as there's a couple folks tossing tips at me as I go and I don't generally narrate chat messages coming in which I should really get better at
I’m playing the new #Forza and while I hate to gripe about games, the fact I can’t put wet tires on my car in the rain because THE CAR hasn’t earned enough experience yet is a weird choice.
Okay everyone, it's time to rise up! If you like what turn-10 did with accessibility Let's show that we care by giving them 5 star raidings! I'm about to do that right now. Anyone, who cares the slightest, show your support, 2.4 out of 5 stars is completly unacceptable! #Forza#Accessibility#Turn-10 #appreciation
so my views on forza? wow! just wow! I'm having fun. I know this will take a lot of practice. Luckelly though wyu will not get to see me crash a lot on stream. Hehahaha #Forza#BlindGaming#BlindGamesPresents
@weirdwriter@podcast There is vibration for when you're on the rumble strips at the edge of the track, but yeah, it would also be great if we can do a rumble-based version of that queue. I'll definitely bring it up.
@weirdwriter@podcast Well, use Free Play for all that. If you want to just practice with the audio queues and turns and such, I would set it up in test drive mode, choose the Eagle Rock Speedway for your track, and choose the Oval circuit for your track layout. That'll put you on a nice easy oval to practice stuff on for as long as you want.
