Sonic The Hedgehog Co-Creator Yuji Naka Gets Suspended Prison Sentence For Insider Trading

Sonic the Hedgehog co-creator Yuji Naka has been given a suspended prison sentence for insider trading.

News of this sentencing comes from IGN (via IGN Japan), which reports that the 57-year-old was "found guilty of violating Japan's Financial Instruments and Exchange Act" for insider trading after a July 7 court appearance at the Tokyo District Court. The judge…

Stovetop,

TL;DR: Yuji Naka is sentenced to probation for 4 years, along with combined fines totalling 172 million yen (about 1.2 million USD). If he fucks up the terms of his probation, he goes to prison for 2.5 years.

Not sure how rich Yuji Naka is, but if he has enough in cash over the course of his long career to pay the fine without it substantially affecting his net worth, it’s effectively a slap on the wrist.
