The importance of Ubuntu for the future of the Linux World:

Some users act as if most people have 100% knowledge of technology and software.

promises simplicity in terms of installation and use.

After installation, you can start using it even if you do nothing.

One of the biggest reasons why new users can adapt is, of course, Ubuntu.

I won't name names, but people who think they're cool because they can install some difficult-to-install distributions are endangering Linux.

@penguingeek I don’t think “they” see themselves as cool. More like “superior race” to noobs who use Ubuntu. I’m on Debian ATM because it works well for me, but I think we (Linux) would not have been where we are now without Ubuntu. So there is that.

@darth There are a few people, I'm actually talking about them. This is not a statement made for all users.👌 (Some people think they are something because they can install the operating system.)

@penguingeek if they can install an operating system… Well, that makes them users 😂

@darth I wish they would just see themselves that way, just like everyone else.😄

@penguingeek One of the reasons why I started my YouTube channel is to normalize using Linux. And by normalize, I don't mean alienate people or act like some kind of salesman or gatekeeper so that Linux can remain as inaccessible as possible. In my mind, normalizing would be not making a big deal out of it. Use it, enjoy it.

@darth @penguingeek As someone who will be switching very soon, I'm grateful for this. You're also not the only one! It's great.

@OrionKidder @penguingeek I have a couple of friends who see me talking about , they see me using it, and then they tell me how they don’t want to switch because Windows is the best. I mean…. OKAY!? Who hurt you? Nobody ever forced anyone to use Linux. If there is an operating system forced on anyone it’s Windows.

People… It is okay, you don’t have to use Linux. But I will keep talking about it because I love it. I also love so there is that.

@darth @penguingeek The only sense in which windows is "the best" is that it's the easiest to get support for. Like, I don't at this point know how or even if I'll find a Linux driver for my printer/scanner. That's the kind of thing that gives me pause.

@OrionKidder @penguingeek I have had more printer issues on Windows. But that’s probably because I always happened to use a Linux supported model. All printers are supported on Windows, but printing on Windows is a bit of a broken mess in my experience.

I hope your printer works out of the box, but don’t pause too much because of it. Boot up Ubuntu live CD (usb stick) and either the printer will work immediately or it will not work.

@darth @penguingeek Yeah, it's the not printing part that worries me! Ha! But it's also a scanner that we use a LOT for record keeping, so it really has to work. Fingers crossed.
