We passed 20,000 followers in this week on #mastodon!
In less than a year, we've accumulated 29% of the followers we got in 9 years of regular posting on the #birdsite, and we get far, far more engagement with our content here.

Question: if they don't have the staffing to engage on Mastodon (which has been their answer in the past), would you appreciate a robot sharing their articles?
It is a weapon, and the sight, the stock, trigger, of that weapon are hidden to casual observers by the flowers of sane people decorating it, as if it were not an array of howitzers being brought to bear at the American Democracy.
Without even counting the racists platformed, Musk's military protection of the Russian Fleet blockading Ukrainian wheat exports ends all doubt about the evil of the platform.
@TheConversationUS Glad for your success on Mastodon. It's refreshing that responses to posts such as yours aren't inundated by bots. It seems that most engagement is by real people.
@Hey_Beth@Thelunarfox@aristeon89 Our engagement here dipped a bit but is still far stronger than on other social networks. But that might reflect academia moving onto the fediverse more than other groups.
@TheConversationUS I suspect that fediverse users are a bit less keen on sensationalism and more keen on actual information so the fediverse is potentially a very good place for publications that don't use sensationalism as their key strategy. @Hey_Beth@Thelunarfox@aristeon89
@Hey_Beth Since Meta has been pretty clear they're no friend to media/publishers, it's kind of insane that journalists are setting up there (particularly while they are blocking all Canadian news outlets). @TheConversationUS@Thelunarfox@aristeon89
