The last few nights I've been working on swapping the stock springs in my T1 Shrimps for these longer multi-stage ones. The longer springs are slightly lighter than the stock ones but they don't bottom out as quickly.
It's tedious brain-off work, which is actually kinda nice because I've gotten to kick back and enjoy a few Hololive streams while I do it. I should find some hobbies like this!
Just finished up this one. No-stabilizers, handwired custom 98% layout. 3D printed case and feet, plate laser cut from 3.2mm Masonite, blank XDA laser dye-subbed in a Josefin Sans Medium font. Not exactly professional fit and finish, but it types nice with Box Jades, and ZERO STAB RATTLE! ZERO!!!
That curve at one side and the numpad being merged with the rest of it is a really nice look! I love the feel of box jades but they’re just too loud for me unfortunately.
Thanks. I am overall very pleased with how it came out, especially on a budget. In particular, the layout is quite usable and versatile. Visually though, I've had to convince my brain that my hands are in the right spot. The left hand modifiers aren't actually too small or anything, but your hands are set up much closer to the left edge, even compared to a typical 1800 layout, so it's a mental adjustment.
I may or may not extend the keymapping out to include four spacebars and move some other bottom row stuff around, but that could just be that I got used to that layout on this one's immediate ancestor. I don't hit the wrong spot so much as forget that the spot I'm aiming for is now an Alt key.
I went to a keyboard meetup a couple of years ago and brought a bunch of the fam with me.
Then I went to a different meetup all the way in DC and brought a bunch of the fam with me PLUS lots of others did. Huge pile of keyboards on the table.
Some day I should bust out the whole collection and lay it out. I'd need a much larger table though haha
Some #MechanicalKeyboard fans are celebrating the 40th day of year with #40sDay and photos of their keyboards that are 40% or less the size of a full size keeb.
Here’s my Unicorne by Boardsource and a custom cable by MechCables. Each half of the keyboard includes a joystick.
in honor of #40sday, here's my current daily driver.

@vozhyk That's the goal. I have a little python program that talks to the keyboard via the HID protocol. For now, the python program can query supported languages, the currently active language and also set it. However it is very basic at the moment.
