2024 Lineup (lemmy.world)
Do people actually like commander?
Like it’s the most annoying format every where 2 year olds always complain about your deck and don’t actually want you to win but just shuffle cards around for no reason and if you ever win they all just complain that you are playing a good deck (which is the entire point of the game), because all the annoying salty people...
How do you all play Magic: The Gathering these days?
Do you play tabletop Magic at your local game store (LGS)? Perhaps you prefer the convenience of Magic: The Gathering Online (MTGO) or Magic: The Gathering Arena on your computer. Or maybe you like playing on your phone or tablet with the Android version. Let me know how you play and what your preferred platform is!...

What LTR cards are you excited about?
I'm personally excited to use LTR/LTC commander decks to get people into the game!

WotC's Statement Against the Use of Generative AI in Magic (magic.wizards.com)
For 30 years, Magic: The Gathering has been built on the innovation, ingenuity, and hard work of talented people who sculpt a beautiful, creative game. That isn’t changing. Our internal guidelines remain the same with regard to artificial intelligence tools: We require artists, writers, and creatives contributing to the Magic...

2p kitchen table formats?
I'm still somewhat new to MtG, and have mainly played commander, along with a bit of modern which was a little too intense for me. What are some good formats to look into for kitchen table, 2 player mtg with my wife? Commander is great but tends to want a 4 player format....

What random card has a place in your heart? (lemmy.world)
I love [Oil-Gorger Troll]. ONE was one of my favorite draft environments, and I really loved the oil counter mechanic. I keep a very jank oil based edh deck around. He won me a bunch of games in draft, I love the art, and the “flavor” text (get it?) cracks me up....
New artist copyright infringement just dropped... (lemmynsfw.com)
Wow, Wizards really needs to better vet artists or indeed artwork at this point.
Do you think deck total value is a good enough indicator of how strong it is?
Hey there! I’m new to paper MTG and play Commander with my playgroup. We’ve been having a debate about whether the total value of a deck really indicates how strong it is. One of my friends argues that value doesn’t equal strength, but I can’t help but wonder when I keep losing to a deck with a higher price tag than...
Out of all of the alternate arts released in the last few years, which one is your favorite?
I really like [[Strategic Planning|STA]] (does this work with the set code?)
What do you all think about "The Ring Tempts You" mechanic?
I think it's pretty neat, at least from a commander perspective. Making non-legendary creatures into legendary creatures can add some cool synergies with cards like Ratadrabik of Urborg.
What's the end state of Universes Beyond? (aussie.zone)
The topic of UB is continuing to create controversy as the number of non-Magic IP products explodes. The Professor put out a recent video on the topic predicting a future Universes Within product to make up for all the unique UB cards being added to the mix, but looks like MaRo has quickly shut that idea down....
Gavin Verhey (Principal Magic Designer at WotC): "You get to pick one Magic keyword mechanic to return in 2024. What is it?" (twitter.com)
Gavin Verhey, one of the lead designers at Wizards, posted an interesting question on Twitter:...
I would greatly appreciate some clarification on how triggered/activated abilities, especially those that involve a cost, can be copied. Thank you for your help with this.
Could you please clarify for me? If I activate an ability that has a cost and then copy it, do I need to pay the cost again for the copy to resolve?...
