"Horton Hears a Who" is a lot more profound than people realize. Perhaps our entire universe exists on a speck of dust that itself exists within an entire other universe, which in turn is on another speck. And what if the atoms that make up our universe in turn contain their own entire universes. Reality is both infinitely large and infinitely small. It extends infinitely in all directions and dimensions.

@gerowen something that I've been thinking about a lot lately is how similar the structure of a molecule and a solar system are.

@wolfshadowheart That, combined with how time is relative makes you wonder; those little swirls of dust in the air, the little spirals that form in your bathtub when you pull the drain, the zap of static electricity when you touch a metal door knob. What if something that, to us, is over in an instant, actually stretches on for an eternity if you dig deep enough into it. Within those fleeting moments, those little sparks, could be the birth, life and death of a universe, civilizations, etc.

schizanon,

@gerowen atoms contain quarks, and those probably smaller widgets that just kinda stick together and spin around each other.

but there being (having been) many universes would help to explain why this one is balanced "just-so" to allow for matter to exist in the state that allows us to look at it!

Have you heard of the "one electron" theory? That's a pretty wild idea too! Maybe we're all just one particle blipping back and forth through time! 🤯

@schizanon That's interesting. It reminds me of a thought I had about reincarnation. "If" reincarnation were real, you could be reincarnated as anybody at any point. We know that time is relative and fluid, so once you're no longer constrained by it after death, if you were to reincarnate, it could be a thousand years from now, or a thousand years ago. Then if that's true, what if there's only one soul, being infinitely reincarnated to live every possibility. We might all literally be "one".
