I know that there are some Palestinians that abide to anarchism, but they are afraid to organize, because it is too dangerous. When the anarchist federation Ahdut was still active we met some Palestinian activists in some of the villages in the occupied territories who regard positively our activity. When we printed (and translated) our opinion about the conflict in the region and gave copies of it to activists of the Palestinian village Bil'in and to activists of the joint struggle from other places, nearly all of them expressed their agreement with our anarchist-communist position. In general, I think that most Palestinians agree on some form of coexistence with the Jews, not because they like us too much or anything, but because this is the reality now. They don’t agree with the proposal of the radical islamists to expel all the Jews. It was to those people, that are in favor of a common future, that we tried to transmit our message of one society based on direct democracy. There was a survey in Gaza before the October attack that showed that approximately one third of its inhabitants were in favor of one society with Jews remaining in it.
There is, however, one group that pretends to be anarchist – #Fauda. But they are not anarchist. They speak, for example, about God. And neither are they Palestinian. They are fake. They are a group that pretends to be both Palestinian and anarchist. There are too many things about them that point in this direction. I don’t know if they are just a bunch of crazy people from abroad, or a creation of the secret services. I honestly don’t know.

One of my favorite museums in the world is the Villa Giulia in Rome. It houses the National Etruscan Museum. It falls outside most quick tour routes, and it is a lovely, peaceful, elegant museum with a very rich collection.

Agreed they’re worth studying, but not all worth adopting. The author’s complaints are the result of millennia of Platonism and centuries of its fatal apotheosis in Kant and his successors.
#Philosophy - "What is the meaning of Life"" or purpose. Maybe their two different things, or they may mean the same thing. I'm interested in the idea that Meaning or Purpose are artifacts of living a life that allows one to contemplate such matters. Are both an emergent property of a life that involves a level of leisure.
Homeless or starving people, or someone in combat has more pressing concerns than life's meaning or purpose. Staying alive to wonder why later is the issue at hand.\

You know, one question I’ve had every time I see this method theRomans had of putting large clay pots into concrete, I guess as a way of storing food (?) - there’s that famous ‘taverna’ at Pompei with these . . . I always wonder, how did they clean them out? Did any of them include a drain below with maybe a stopper? They seem very deep. Maybe too long for a human arm to reach in to clean out. Romans understood plumbing, so was there a drainpipe below?
Now that it's been accepted to ACM FAccT'24, I've updated the preprint of my paper on why artists are right that AI art is a kind of theft. I hope this promotes more serious thought about the visions of generative AI developers and the impacts of these technologies.

Heading towards the Colosseum we passed a hole being dug in Via in Publicolis and beyond the hole a beautiful classical church. We asked a man standing beside the excavation how we could get to the church. It turns out that he was an archaeologist and every hole that gets dug in a street in Rome is accompanied by one because there is so much archeology everywhere!!! Instead of the Colosseum he suggested we should visit the 4thC Basilica of Saint Crisogono. #rome#archoeology#ancientrome

@PaulGrahamRaven I think I'd agree with Marcos that it's not the most important thing. What is most important is what side you take in specific struggles and class relationships. For me that has led me towards being more leftist, from my original anti-political primitivist/situationist stance.
