DEMs sabotaging themselves results in them loosing votes, whereas GOP'lers will always get their sheeple to vote.for them no matter how shit their ideas are.

It seems to me the Democrats fail because they don't really love the voters they rely upon most. Take the black female demographic. Eager to make contact with incumbent politicians, a fantastic pool of future candidates, but not equipped with a lot of campaign donations. But it's easy to find them, and there are already pretty organized, so what is the DNC waiting for?

    @mxtthxw Yes, AFAIK she'd been his VP had they not been cockblocked...

    TruthSandwich,

    @kkarhan @punklawyer

    Sanders supporters who valued purity above progress elected Trump. A quarter of Berners went bust, half of those by throwing away their vote in protest, the other half by voting for Trump directly. (See graph below.)

    Sanders would have lost to Trump by a huge margin; he couldn't even come close to beating either Clinton or Biden. That's why he's given up and gone home; he's sick of losing. And we're sick of him spoiling our elections.

    Maybe people are just dellusioned in how and enshittified politics?

    TruthSandwich,

    @kkarhan @punklawyer

    As for his opinion, as AOC once asked (see image below), "Why do we listen to people who lost elections as if they are experts in winning elections?" Sanders is a two-time loser, so by his own protege's logic, we shouldn't pay him any attention.

    @kkarhan I'm sorry you feel that way. I rarely dip into politics here. It's so difficult to convey the nuance required.
    I don't know the accounts you refer to, and only stumbled upon this thread on my home timeline.
    I will say that back in my younger days, I felt much the same way that it sounds like you do, and I was one of the 19% who voted for Ross Perot. A horrible mistake that time and experience has revealed to me.
    I fully understand the disgust with our 2 party system. And especially with the lack of progress on true progressive issues, especially from the Democrats.
    As much as I'd love a Bernie administration... and even more so, an Elizabeth Warren administration, there isn't realistically enough support for that direction yet.
    Time and again, the results of elections show that staying home, 3rd party votes, protest votes, purity votes, etc, do more harm than good.
    Especially in the world we find ourself in. Bush v Gore and Trump's 4 years could have been avoided.
    Yes, it usually means holding your nose and picking the lesser of two evils. That's an unfortunate circumstance we are faced with, and until there's more momentum behind the candidates I would prefer, it's the choice we face.
    Until we get our democracy back on course, waiting for the lesser of two evils to win your vote is dangerous. For example, another Trump administration will, in all likelihood end democracy here.
    And for me, that's personal because the survival of my community depends on us pushing back against the fascism and Christian nationalism.
    I fully respect the right to think otherwise. I just thought you should know I mean no harm, and when the day comes where Bernie, Elizabeth, and or AOC have enough popular support, I will be there with them.

    chiclet,

    She's 34 years old now. So how exactly was she cockblocked from running for president 8 years ago?

    #BernieSanders #AOC #HillaryClinton #Sanders #OcasioCortez #VoterTurnout #AmericanOligarcy #USA #Oligarchy

    TruthSandwich,

    @chiclet @kkarhan @punklawyer

    Sanders was vote-blocked. The voters blocked him by voting for a better candidate.

    This is obviously proof that the (checks notes) "oligarchs" somehow (looks again) "rigged?" the elections by letting voters, you know, vote. I mean, what could be more anti-democratic than, uhm, voting?

    kkarhan,
    @kkarhan@mstdn.social avatar

    @TruthSandwich @chiclet @punklawyer

    Keep telling that lie to yourself often anoigh and you may start to believe it...

    lunch,

    @TruthSandwich @chiclet @kkarhan @punklawyer the dem establishment are in bed with the liberal media apparatus and ruthlessly attacked him in bad faith and misrepresented statisics, it's soooooo easy to find evidence of this

    if you go issue by issue the majority of americans love sanders's policies and if we had RCV in the 2016 or 2020 primaries he would have won by a landslide

    chiclet,

    @lunch

    Same conspiratorial nonsense that MAGA also uses.

    There's no way to know how people would vote if we had RCV.

    I am a good example of someone who likes many of Sanders' policy positions. But would have still put him as 2nd ranking behind Biden. Some (all progressives) would have put him 1st, but more moderates and independents would not vote for a socialist as 1st.

    RCV tends to favor moderates.

    @TruthSandwich @kkarhan @punklawyer

    lunch,

    @chiclet @TruthSandwich @kkarhan @punklawyer there was literally polls showing that with RCV sanders would have won excessively and in a head to head race against trump in either general election would have won easily

    FPTP favors moderate compromise candidates, there's plenty of research demonstrating this, you don't know what you're talking about apparently

    please do some background research, everything I've said here was extensively documented and is not some left-maga conspiracy nonsense

    chiclet,

    @lunch

    Show your source for these "polls".

    What you wrote is logically incoherent. A poll about RCV but head-to-head?

    Also FPTP is by far the dominant election method, and you say it favors moderates, while we've been getting more and more polarized?

    Is "do the research" some kind of Qanon code?

    jan_kirsch,

    @freemo @punklawyer

    Mister Freemann, I would be surprised if the taxation of the rich/successful/happy people in the Netherlands is lower than the taxation in the USA demanded by Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. But I don't really know!

    If you compare the poverty, misery, crime and social peace of the USA and the Netherlands from your personal experience, can you then exclude with a clear conscience that taxation and the social capitalism financed by it does not have a significant share in this considerable discrepancy?
