Welcome to No-NAT-November.
all you NAT rules are now gone.
consider routing instead :)

@maris Cool! I'll take my globally routable /24 now... oh, what do you mean I can't just get one of those?

fedops,
@fedops@fosstodon.org avatar

@ThirstyGayGeek you can get a provider-independent /48 or /56. It's just hellishly expensive, which is the actual scandal.

@fedops @maris You're talking about IPv6 like I have that available to me :D

@ThirstyGayGeek dang! 😄
@maris

ThirstyGayGeek,

@fedops @maris It's a chicken-and-egg problem... most consumers don't know what it is so it doesn't end up being something that's requested often, and without a sufficient volume of requests, network operators don't prioritize rollout.

@ThirstyGayGeek one of the reasons I went with my local underdog DSL provider. IPv6 included at no charge. Unfortunately only provider address space, but still.

Considering that IPv6 addresses are essentially worthless (since there's absolutely 0 scarcity) it's incredible what RIRs are charging for the simple registration of a PI block.
@maris

Error,

@maris time to finally roll out v6 everywhere

@Error @maris Problem: What if an doesn't want to offer ?

Cuz I do have that problem.

And it's not as if I am unwilling to pay for a /48 or even a /64.

sten,

@kkarhan @Error @maris My ISP gives me only a /64 (which in practice means no subnetting), so I turned v6 off in my network and use v4 with NAT instead. Whose stupid idea was it to let my ISP determine what I can and cannot do in my own home network?

kkarhan,
@kkarhan@mstdn.social avatar

@sten @Error @maris I mean, is trash but for some abdurd reason my ISP gladly provides me a /29 of IPv4's yet won't offer ma a songle /64 of IPv6's

And due to bs. like 's is not an option even if I choose a local server...

5SpeedFun,

@kkarhan @sten @Error @maris
I had the same issue with geo-ip blocking of he.net ipv6 ips...sighs

wonka,
@wonka@chaos.social avatar

@kkarhan Have you sent them RFC6540 already?

@Error @maris

kkarhan,
@kkarhan@mstdn.social avatar

@wonka @Error @maris the problem isn't hardware or software.

It's just that they are too lazy to even allocate a single /64.

I would've used https://he.net / https://tunnelbroker.net if said GIF-Tunnels were stable and didn't feck up all the time, including problems due to ...
