@eniko heh, I guess the right answer is no, but I've been getting boosters before others because NHS thinks I am at risk and recommend me to get them... but I am lower priority than other at risk people... and they never told me what in my medical history caused them classify me as such
@eniko I'm lucky my employer is fine w/ me working from home, at least for now. So optional stuff is a risk/reward thing for me.
I've found there isn't much in the world I can't experience the resonant parts for me online. So there's very little little reward to counter the risk of the airborne brain disease or, even without that, the general certainty of social alienation and physical exhaustion of an in-person event!
Folks respond to this with "how sad" which kinda makes my point! lolol
@eniko I am a transplant patient and take immune suppressants every day - but, I've also had 7 shots so far (3 initial series instead of 2, 2 regular boosters, 2 bivalent boosters), and antibody tests show I am have a normal person's response, building up sufficient antibodies. So I put on my N95 masks, now that they're widely available again, and go out and do just about everything I used to, including going to concerts indoors (symphony, not pop), social dancing, and attending local cons.
@eniko I want to clarify that I am limiting my external social interactions because I am autistic and I hate people and I would rather stay at home and play with my art supplies than watch angry White people abuse baristas.
@eniko I wasn't sure how to answer this because I do avoid some things but not everything and I mask when I can, but should we answer the second poll if we said we're masking or just if we're fully limiting activities?
@raphaelmorgan if you limit your activities to less than you want to do then you're limiting and should pick the first answer, and then vote in the 2nd poll accordingly
@eniko I limit but not to zero — certain, smaller family gatherings, with the family I podded with earlier in the pandemic (and their one set of neighbors for the same reason), I gather with unmasked. Nothing else social.
Occasional shorter jaunts like shopping, Dr. Visits, and the obligatory day job, I keep masked up unless eating (at work) or necessary for medical procedure.
I don't go to things where I think a lot of right wingers are going to be, because they are more likely to be diseased or carriers, not to mention rude, bigoted, and misogynistic. So going to take a pass on Memorial Day or July 4th things. We do go to jazz or ethnic music concerts or the local arthouse theatre, to galleries and such where lgbtq folks and other progressives are more likely to go, since they are probably all vaxxed and comply with safety protocols.
Need another option here: limiting activity and wearing a mask when participating.
Then it's a perfect 2x2 experiment: mask-on/mask-off, and limiting/not-limiting (except for the decline to answer options for masking and/or limiting).
I'm a limiting/masking answer, of course, so I'll answer as masking.
I've been doing a lot more things recently, so I felt like I would be lying if I said "yes", though I still wear a KN95 whenever I go indoors and/or if there's a big crowd of people.
95% of my pre-bioweapon indoor restaurant activity is gone, and I still don't feel like going to the one convention I looked forward to every year.
@eniko@sabik That’s not what I said 🙂
My wife is a doctor, she was quite involved in handling it at the biggest Danish hospital during the crisis. If coronavirus was a “big deal”, I would hear about it.
Visit Denmark and you’ll see - except for more focus on hand hygiene (great!), everything is back to “normal” and has been for quite a while.
@eniko@sabik I’m unsure what your point is? Yes some suffer from long term effects from covid, which is certainly unfortunate. What do you think we should do differently?
@eniko@jramskov@sabik And the fun part is, those are the symptoms which have shown up, up to now and obviously-enough.
Many of those currently unaffected just haven't started showing signs, and those few who currently dodged the bullet aren't guaranteed to keep doing so.
@eniko well, I voted yes. Even though I don't really go out much in general, but then... I wore mask even during Christmas markets last year and that was outside... so yeah, if I participate in activities outside of my house indoors or outdoors this is my worry
@eniko chose the middle option but now that I think of it, maybe should've chosen the first option. I have been gradually poking my head out more and attending more things again, but still vastly more restricted than pre-2020.
@eniko My answer isn’t listed. I limit somewhat, and I mask sometimes but not as often as I want or ought to, because I’m afraid people will respond badly to me masking.
