@daringfireball Joanna Stern’s video is her typical low-voltage troll material. She mocks her digital persona as being ridiculous, but…it looks…just like her…
@daringfireball I’m surprised you didn’t mention spatial photos or videos at all (the kind you take yourself, not the “Apple Immersive” ones). Is that just because there’s nothing new to report vs. previous demos? Still, that would’ve been the first thing I’d try if I had one of these!
@daringfireball If you leave a window in a room and walk to another room, does that window get blocked by the walls or show through them? Like, could you leave one set of apps in your home office and another set of apps in your living room?
@daringfireball Apple has a notoriously narrow range of first-party accessories, but do you think they’ll release their own “lap keyboard”? Sure they don’t expect everyone to go to a desk whenever they need to type.
@daringfireball If you’re looking for a 3D object to play with on the #AppleVisionPro Day Ahead is an overview of your day's events in elegant 3D. It provides a beautiful, glanceable overview of your Apple Calendar events for the day, so you can always see your next meeting and tap to find out more. You can customise the colour and view it vertically or horizontally to best suit your Spatial Computing workspace. https://www.contxtu.al/dayahead
@jwalke Good question. It was a Magic Keyboard for me, so I don't know if (a) it's Apple magic, (b) Bluetooth signal, or (c) machine learning vision recognition?
How do you get your personal photos/videos on there if you don’t use iCloud Photos?
And I was surprised no mention of spatuel video shot with the Vision Pro (rather than iPhone 15 Pro). What did you think?
@gruber Thanks! I’m very curious how I’d get my photos/videos on there since I’m not on iCloud Photos and that is one of the big reasons to get the Vision Pro
And I’ll be curious to get your thoughts on spatial video when you write about it. Your take on capturing family videos, and the time to do so is so fleeting, particularly with kids, is what convinced me to take the leap and get this. Other articles talked about spatial video, but framing it that way changed how I approached the decision
@daringfireball@gruber one thing that strikes me as a good feature for VisionOS 2 is the iPhone as a trackpad/keyboard for the Vision Pro. Similar to the Apple TV. Would be a good balance between lugging around a keyboard and typing on the VisionOS keyboard.
@RickWilliams Right now that doesn’t work, and in fact, it’s a huge pain in the ass to do anything on your phone while wearing it because Face ID doesn’t work.
This part makes me wonder if at some point they might use the cameras to build a 3D model of your room and feed you a render of that model rather than actual camera input 🤔
