I know we were all traumatized by Covid and still are, but we really need to remember all the things the Trump administration did to us at the beginning of the pandemic. They took away PPE from Blue states, tried to hoard it for themselves or make money selling it to states, wanted to use herd immunity when they saw Black people were dying disproportionately and did a genocide, didn't care about the lives of front line workers, seniors, children or teachers, got people to stop using masks...

I find that maddening… the unspoken, unexamined presumption that the Nazis were ok until gas chambers started.
News flash to all these folks: Nazis were bad from the start. They did hundreds, thousands of bad things before the first concentration camp, before the gas chambers … before they mechanized and industrialized evil, they were already doing evil, just less efficiently.

When I was a child, I overheard adults talking about Vietnam. I heard people call the pro-war crowd fascist. I thought they were overreacting.
I remember being a teen/young man and hearing people call Reagan and Thatcher fascists. I thought they were overreacting.
Then in the 90s, my father got flooded with anonymous death threats for being a career military officer who supported gays in the military, and I realized I was underreacting all along

There is an amazing human capacity for not wanting to know something. Much better to believe that they're not exterminating your neighbours. Much better to believe that prisoners are treated legally and humanely at for profit prisons. Much better to not think about taking infants away from parents at border crossings. Much better to just not think about a lot of stuff too much. We all do it, some of us try to fight for change as well. ❤️
