Right wing governments hate cities and good urbanism. If you care about these things, you need to vote left. It shouldn't have to be this way, but it is.
Incidentally, almost all of this pushback against good urbanism is from right-wing governments embracing climate change denialism.
Anything that could be seen as being good for the climate is banned or deprioritised. Cities and effective transportation are just getting caught up in this.
Billions of dollars from the automobile and fossil fuel industries to politicians are ultimately to blame, of course.

Not the first time the Florida state government specifically went out of its way to specifically fuck over Hillsborough county. RIP penny tax that was supposed to pay for basic road maintenance.
