@StillIRise1963 they see themselves in a hierarchy near the top. They're not at the top and know they never will be. But they're close enough to manipulate the assholes at the top.
The fascist hierarchy has to have someone at the bottom. Rather than causing people to go "holy shit, that could be me next, I should try to stop this (or nobody should be treated like that!)!" they instead try to lock in their position on the hierarchy. The higher you are the more incentive to preserve it.
@StillIRise1963 and we should also acknowledge some white women are as bad or worse than the men. This was true during the period of human enslavement. It was true when women led the charge to destroy congressional reconstruction. It was true when women led the charge to put up those damned monuments to losers and racists and alter our history books to adopt the Lost Cause.
They're too busy humming along to "Stand By Your Man" while getting their feet bound in the tanning salon, and pretending their man isn't holed up in a motel taking meth with a rent boy that he paid for with money embezzled from the local church.
@StillIRise1963 As you see with the GOP, white supremacy causes people, women too, to subject “others” to suffering even at their own expense. Many would rather “burn it all to the ground”.
@StillIRise1963
I'm absolutely terrified of fascism taking over. As a white woman who has witnessed what the patriarchy wants for me, I'm all too aware of what's going to happen to me and other white women if fascism grips us tighter.
I genuinely cannot believe that others can't see it as clearly. But I talk to them, and they repeat the Faux News talking points like it was a mantra. They've been brainwashed.
@realtegan@StillIRise1963 There are many who are lost, but we have to make sure we reach as many people as possible before the election. Anyone who would vote for any Republican is either rich and greedy for tax cuts, a misogynist, a racist, or is blinded by the rw rhetoric. Our votes will protect ALL women, including those who are so ignorant they “know not what they do”.
@DebR@realtegan@StillIRise1963 some of them may be in controlling environments with the threat of violence if they don't vote as "their man" tells them to.
@StillIRise1963@DebR@realtegan Generally true, but as we know some stole election machine data. However,whether it's true or not is not relevant if you believe 'your man" can find out and beat the hell out of you & your children if you crossed him, would you risk it? I wouldn't, and having seen some poor women who were in such relationships it's horrifying how rarely the injuries are visible to most people.
Don't underestimate the power of threats of violence, or abandonment!
Nope. They're convinced their lifestyle personally insulates them. They start with hate and build up their entire identities from there. They're convinced they can take social resources and not pay for them because "they get their money anyway". They're older women who won't have to deal with reproductive danger. They're convinced others are heathens who "doesn't respect babies". If they do have personal repro trauma, they CANNOT separate it from what everyone should do.
@StillIRise1963
This has been a mystery to me for many years and not just women, jews, gays, etc.
I've often asked, "They hate you, and they hate your family, why do you vote for them?"
