A thousand times yes. This nonsense about “pretending,” or “acting”, or whatever is just a dodge. It’s a coping mechanism because they can’t accept that the people and institutions they grew up with and trusted are actually terrible.

A video filmed during Donald 's New Jersey rally on Saturday has shown "thousands" of people leaving while the former president was still talking.

@GottaLaff
You need to understand what actually happened here.

For decades this weekend in Wildwood has hosted an antique car show. The town is packed to the gills with old white people (Trump's main audience).

Next to nobody (maybe a few hundred people, maybe) went to Wildwood to see/hear Trump, they were there already so the campaign threw this together to take advantage of it.

It’s cutting calories—not intermittent fasting—that drops weight, study suggests

The study is small and imperfect but offers more data on how time-restricted diets work.

https://arstechnica.com/science/2024/04/its-cutting-calories-not-intermittent-fasting-that-drops-weight-study-suggests/?utm_brand=arstechnica&utm_social-type=owned&utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social

EdSanders,
@EdSanders@mstdn.social avatar

@arstechnica the measure of control required to follow any restricted eating plan is an enormous factor.
It’s often left unsaid, but the intermittent fasting advocates I’ve seen/heard make it pretty clear that the calories consumed should decline (which is certainly my own experience).

Restricting calories through strict outside monitoring & control (as in the study) is not a practical solution, but creating & maintaining a time restricted diet can be.

Sell Trump Media Stock (DJT) Now - An Implosion Is Likely

Trump has done this before - made a fortune off the backs of gullible supporters who are left with nothing after trusting Trump.

Your only hope is to cut your losses and sell your DJT stock NOW.

Having already lost 50% of its value, DJT is on a downward spiral to $2 per share - it's ACTUAL stock valuation!

https://www.forbes.com/sites/johntobey/2024/04/12/sell-trump-media-stock-djt-nowan-implosion-is-coming/

EdSanders,
@EdSanders@mstdn.social avatar

@Free_Press it’s not worth $2 a share. That implies a value of $280M.

It has no value. It loses millions, has no prospects for growth and is run by grifters.

The problem for people trying to bribe him this way is that Wall Street knows it and there are plenty of traders who will be happy to take advantage of them.

They’re already fighting over it, look at the option chain.

EdSanders,
@EdSanders@mstdn.social avatar

@inthehands
I’m curious why “hand marked” is preferred over “machine marked, voter confirmed”?

New Jersey’s new voting machines use this system and include the rest of the steps.

The ballot appears on the screen as marked, after confirmation, it’s printed and can be read again to see it was cast as intended, then collected & securely binned

@stux I don’t have my head in the sand, but I don’t think Trump is nearly as viable as portrayed in the press.

The state of voter turnout is how they actually work.

Today didn't change voter turnout, in swing districts, in swing states. So it changed nothing.

Sick burns tho.

EdSanders,
@EdSanders@mstdn.social avatar

@mekkaokereke @morecowbell this is absolutely the thing.

Dems wouldn’t lose a single white vote by prominently endorsing and fighting for the issues that most concern Black Americans (They were never getting those shitty people anyway) and fighting tooth & nail against the absolute bullshit voter suppression, and outright disenfranchisement, that is the ONLY policy position of the Republican Party is the shortest path to victory.

Does anyone else have trouble doing one thing at a time? Like if I'm doing chores it helps to have a podcast or talk to someone, or watching TV, I need to do something with my hands, like a little handy craft, or a simple game. I love movies, but the movie has to be absolutely fascinating for me to want to go to a theater where I just need to sit there and watch. I have a large amount of tabs open on my phone all the time and I flit back and forth through a bunch of different things. Weed helps calm this down a bit.

EdSanders,
@EdSanders@mstdn.social avatar

@RickiTarr if I’m doing more than one thing at a time , I’m not doing my best at any of it. That’s generally not a problem, because very few things require my best effort, but for things that do, I can’t have any distractions.

EdSanders,
@EdSanders@mstdn.social avatar

@BlackAzizAnansi
I think it’s somewhat true. There’s been some stuff that seems (and often is) marginal because there’s so much that’s screwed up, that in a normal context would seem significant.

Not wiping out student debt is a perfect example. The bulk of it was prevented, but Biden chipped away at the margins. For the people who did get relief I’m sure it is a big deal, there just aren’t enough of them.

's lawyers told a appellate court Wed that he's prepared to post (only) a $100M to halt of his penalty, arguing that provisions of the verdict make it impossible to secure a bond for the full amount.

TFG's attys made the offer in court papers asking the state's mid-level appeals court for an order preventing ' office from enforcing the $454M judgment while his plays out.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-fraud-appeal-bond-new-york/

EdSanders,
@EdSanders@mstdn.social avatar

@Nonilex
Trump built himself quite a trap. The only bondable asset he has is real estate, but the court case he lost has found that his valuations of that real estate were wildly inflated.

A bond issuer would have to put a real value on the assets used, likely a fraction of what Trump has valued them at, thus reiterating the court's findings of overvaluing assets

So, reading the comments from my other post actually brings up some questions for me, I think we've all met people who seem to overestimate their abilities and equally we have met people who seem to underestimate their abilities. What is the difference? Is it misplaced confidence, narcissism, low self esteem? Do we need people who will just make decisions when necessary or is consensus always the path? Is Dunning-Kruger real?

I think in this post Trump Presidency era we all have questions about this, but honestly, that even started in the Bush era, are these men actually "dumb" or is this much more sinister?

EdSanders,

Dunning-Krueger is definitely real, and the inability to perceive the concept it is shorthand for is an example of the concept.

    Still marvelous to think that 110,000 people voted in the Iowa Republican caucus, yet it will be interpreted as sending a significant message about America. That's less than a third of the population of Bydgoszcz. (if your response is "where?" then you are making my point)

    EdSanders,
    @EdSanders@mstdn.social avatar

    @anneapplebaum it’s not even 20% of the population of Ocean County New Jersey. Hell, there are more Republicans in Ocean County than voted in the Iowa Caucuses.

    There are 5 counties in NJ with larger populations than Ocean.

    There are 3 other counties in very blue NJ that also have more Republicans.

    The story that should have come out of Iowa is that a fascist movement has taken hold there.

    EdSanders,

    @RickiTarr I’ll go the other way (at least kinda) Captain America has been the least problematic because he’s basically following the golden rule and has been a consistent opponent of tyranny. He’s totally law-and-order guy but the first law is, don’t follow illegal orders.
    Marvel deserves props for putting him on the right side (resistance) in Civil War.

    He does lend himself to jingoism though.
