I am so sorry to hear of this but happy you are moving onto bigger and better.
I'm doing a dissertation in science communication and it took 4 years into my PhD to realize that facts don't matter to the crazies.
I kept believing that if we just explained better, we would get through and now I realize how naive that was. These are like hardened criminals, but ideological. They believe what they believe not because of facts but despite them. I hope you keep doing your thing somewhere because there is a soft middle that can be swayed.
@ClimateChris Welcome! Thank you for carrying such a crucial message. It's horrible that you received threats as a result. In 7 months on Mastodon, I've found it to be a more sane environment. I've followed you and look forward to your future posts.

Always #CamelCaseHashTags because they're more smoothly read by screen readers.

I know, sometimes you'll type it CamelCase & the system will try to change it to one it sees more commonly. The crowd is wrong. You can force it to CamelCase anyway.
Also, pics should all have alt txt. Same reason... the visually impaired are also all going to cook as the world burns. We'll need allies in every corner, so we should try to not exclude them.
@ClimateChris I'm so sorry that people have lost their minds to an extent where they threaten violence when an expert in their field simply shares facts.
That so many people literally "can't handle the truth" is a sad reality of today's society.
Its damned hard to put your livelihood where your mouth is. I have had the chance of doing it once myself. And during it, is terrifying pit-of-stomach gut wrenching.... But I wouldn't do it differently now that I can also look back on it.
You should have never been subject to harassment and threats, ever. You were reporting weather news, and that alone is saddening.
I hope you find find your place after this is all behind you! And even some stories to tell.
