Saw some folks on here talking about a survey from #ProtonMail, and noting that @protonprivacy was on Mastodon.

A plea went out to make sure to tell Proton in no uncertain terms that dabbling with AI would spell their doom. I agree.

Any service that is about privacy should have NOTHING to do with AI or LLMs... they are the antithesis of privacy.

This isn't to say that there's no good use for LLMs. There are times when entertaining & plausible sounding bullshit is just the ticket.

Like writing marketing copy... which has always been bullshit - we all know this. But there's well-written bullshit, then there's the poorly spelled, grammatically clumsy bullshit that our former marketing person would write. He was crap. Only reason he got that job was he's the son of our VP at the time. They're both gone, thankfully.

"Upgrade to Pass Plus, Proton Unlimited, Proton Family, or Business plan to get access to Proton Sentinel."

So it's decided - I will never upgrade.

Well 17m is one of the WARC bands, & is excluded from some (many?) contests.

So, dude set things up for contesting in the '90s. Now too old to climb the tower or up on the roof. Nothing changes unless something breaks & he calls for help.

This is how I imagine it goes.

When assembling my , I had some choices to make. I chose 17m and did not choose 60m.

(Now suddenly tempted to expand to add 60m.)

Doing a band-check here. Started on 10m FT8. Nothing.
Nothing on 12m.
A tiny bit (like, 3 stns) on 15m, one is Brazil.
A bit on 17m - ZF2, IV3, VA2.
20m is wall-to-wall as usual, but not super densely. But about 2 doz. decodes per cycle.
A few on 30m.
A few on 40m.
No resonant element on 60m.
Nothing on 80m.

Yeah, it's a little weird. It feels a lot like solar minimum today.

Another day another different antenna. 40/20 meter built specially for my 40 & 20 meter . Couldn't break through activity effecting so tried some on 40 meters

Yeah, 'twas a li'l noisy out there today.

Saw you spotted on 2 different frequencies on 40m.

Checked both times. Heard nothing, nor anything else nearby.

The waterfall on various bands for FT8 seems to indicate the same - far fewer decodes today as compared to the usual.

Fun news from Petersburg, , Everett Bennett has been hired to direct Petersburg Indian Association (both the board president & tribal admin are now Tlingit & LGBT+) This is a huge & positive change for both PIA & Petersburg! Everett grew up here & has been been active as a leader, founder, and volunteer in so many amazing capacities, they inspire so many people with their humility and dedication to service & justice

Of all the comings-out we have to do as trans folks, telling our parents is one of the very hardest. What it even means to be trans has changed so much that it can be incredibly hard to even get them to understand what your gender is.

This bit really caught my attention. I always felt a bit gaslit when people from the cult of #GymRat would talk about how energized & great they felt after exercise, or a run.

In the case of my body's chemistry, either exercise does NOT produce #Endorphins, or I suffer from some sort of Endorphin Sensitivity... 'cuz it makes me nauseous & pissed off.

But I remember enjoying sports as a teen.

Hey tech/SM companies: when you send an email out summarizing changes to your ToS/Policies, don't just tell us what SORT of things were changed, summarize WHAT YOU CHANGED. FROM WHAT, TO WHAT.

Making me read the entire policy and also somehow have access to the previous policy is OBTUSE BULLSHIT.

I switched from Spotify to Tidal for all those reasons. Then I realized I was listening to public radio more than Tidal anyway, so I quit Tidal & send monthly support to MPR.

We’re kinda spoiled with really good public radio choices here in the Twin Cities.
