My credit score dropped when I paid off my car.

My credit score dropped when I paid off my student loans.

Credit reporting agencies told me: "You should get more loans to increase your credit score."

The system punishes you for not owing them money.

They want you to be in debt.

Credit scoring is one of the biggest scams.

Wisely, in Luxembourg, the government do not allow credit scumbags like Equifax and the rest to keep records on ordinary citizens - it's against the law here! If you fail to make a payment of money you owe, that fact is recorded by the Luxembourg Central Bank and you will not be allowed credit until you have satisfied the debt. Any other agency holding such information is committing a criminal offence!

@FluentInFinance The easiest trick to a high credit score is to have one no-fee credit card with a major bank that you keep forever, and raise the limit on whenever possible.

The reason most people's credit scores drop when they pay off their student loans is that those are usually their oldest accounts. If 20yrs of creditworthiness disappears with the debt, it's going to move your score.

@opendna @FluentInFinance Good advice ⬆️

It doesn’t help your credit score to be “up to your eyeballs in debt”

You want:

  • on-time credit card payments
  • old accounts
  • high limits
  • 20-30% utilization ratio
  • mix of credit if possible — loan and credit card

Keeping your credit cards at 30% of less of your limit can help a lot. If you have a low limit, pay it off 2x/month

Yes, credit scores are stupid, but they can really hurt you

My info was hacked at the credit reporting company Equifax. If they can't keep this information secure, they should not exist. It's a sick system that rewards people for being in debt.
