@RustyBertrand I'll always remember the story of how Sissy Spacek, who was a good friend of Lynch's, convinced some Hollywood exec to see an early cut of Eraserhead, in the hopes of getting funding so the film could be finished.
The exec watched some of the footage in an empty screening room, then stood up and shouted: "THIS IS STUPID! PEOPLE DON'T TALK LIKE THIS! PEOPLE DON'T ACT LIKE THIS!!" and stormed out.
@nicholas_saunders@RustyBertrand Yes, she was in The Straight Story, and yes it was a David Lynch movie (unusual in that it didn't feature anything supernatural or sci-fi-like).
That's where #villeneuve seems to have learned that painful lesson, as he had, I think, a multi movie deal from the get go. That's more strategy, or working the #hollywood system, tho.
