Nichts geht über ein guten Morgen Ihr ICE fällt aus 🤪 So schlecht habe ich noch nie gepackt um überstürzt eine Stunde früher mit Regio aufzubrechen. nach Budapest!

@eWalthert @kupfers I also second what Indra said. DB manages to be more reliable in its messiness than the SNCF. Also more human.

@triple @eWalthert Once something goes wrong you are completely fucked in a system with compulsory reservations, too few trains, very bad timetable, hardly any useful connections but to/through Paris where you have to schlep yourself across town + insane prices (or just fully booked trains). Their app is complete shit, the trains cramped, no storage space, too few doors to board, lame snack options with no seating, too many useless announcements but no useful timely info

@kupfers @triple @eWalthert Tend to agree – had to fork out like two hundred euros on interrail first class reservations from Girona to Paris, when our normal reservations that Also cost over a hundred were void because of strikes two years ago. Lucky weren’t stuck in Madrid then, where people had to queue for hours. Also the wifi was broken the whole trip, only difference from regular class apparently wider seats.

Und ja vielleicht geht’s ab Mü im besser but I’m somehow not in love with those. Short trains, always full, not as good as DB in recent experiences so I was looking forward to breakfast and lunch in an ICE

@kupfers @partim Some platforms in Austria are too short, for trains longer than 300m. 10-car ICE 4 would be optimal, I guess.

@ummels @kupfers But at least the Nürnberg – Wien trains only stop where there must be enough space, given that double Railjets also stop there.
