It beggars belief. If people wish to be courtiers, then fine - on your own money and in your own time - that goes for the ‘Royal’ Family.

I remember when I was about 18 and Diana died and people who I thought were "normal" and reasonably level headed suddenly became very forelock tugging and Royalist.
I naively thought that my generation, generation X, would be the last to put up with this nonsense, but how wrong I was.
The Royals are parasites. And their tendrils go deep within the British consciousness.
I despise everything they represent

I'm Scottish, so wasn't used to that level of Royalist sentiment. I noticed that those who were particularly vocal in the mourning of Diana had English parents.
Which makes sense, as I regard the monarchy as fundamentally an English institution, foisted on the people of Scotland. They can shove off once Scotland gets its independence
@Shivviness@Wen I have recently been rewatching have I got news for you from the beginning & the one thing that was surprising was how little time they had for the royals in any way shape or form, including going in really hard on Fergie & Di as well as Andrew & Charles, that seemed to stop after she died, the whole tone changed after that...
