@RickiTarr thank you. My mother passed away 36 years ago, so a lot of the sting is gone for me. My wife just lost her mother less than a year ago, so not so easy for her. I’m just glad I was able to be there for her today.
@RickiTarr@quincypeck my younger son was born ten years to the day after my mom died. Really changed the way I looked at the day. He’s turning 25 this year.
@RickiTarr Thanks Ricki. Lost my mum to leukaemia in 1961. A good day to think about how devastating it is for a small kid to lose their mum, and how it can affect your whole life.

@Mary625@RickiTarr As a single parent of very young children, I was often wished happy Mother's Day. It didn't really fit but I said thanks in any case.
I need to fix that. There are people with parents who used science to make it happen, and plenty of people who've lost their moms. I want and need to acknowledge those people. I apologize for the potentially painful exclusion.
