I did a Sony Experia and a Galaxy S6 edge but both to Lineage's close cousin eOS.
It was painless enough if you have the background knowledge required for running command line apps like adb and tinkering with Android background settings.
I suspect you have that covered being a Linux user 😀

Galaxy S6 edge was an unofficial development it was very good but updates were slow 🤷♂️
As part of a series of articles (in German) on custom ROMs, Mike Kuketz, a pen tester and data security expert, also analysed LineageOS, in particular the way it transfers data. His conclusion: If you really want to do without Google or get timely security patches for your device, consider looking for another custom ROM.
