That’s why we are launching a public consultation on the digitalisation of travel documents. Your contributions will help establish a common standard in the Schengen area.
Digital travel documents can be easier to issue than physical ones and can facilitate border checks.
This initiative aims to decide on a common format for digital travel documents.
I've taken part in a number of those pseudo-consultations regarding e-government or digital politics. The proposals to be commented never failed to "disappoint", always had a deeply Orwellian component.
And by now I know for sure that the "consultation" process isn't serious.
No amount of well-founded criticism from the public has had any impact whatsoever on those bandwagons.
The only effect is that the objections are there for all to see, for posterity maybe.
@quincy There's nothing else to expect from this @EU_Commission - just look up how they treat even the parliamentary when it comes to criticism of f.e. #Chatcontrol. They sure love the idea of the european total surveillance state, damn everyone stating those pesky "facts" or "citizen rights".
I can only hope the decay of the US serves as some kind of wakeup call to them, otherwise we as citizens are royally fucked.

@EU_Commission the onboarding and the UX of this survey is a nightmare. I couldn’t finish it on my phone and you ask me to trust you with the digitalization of my travel documents? I lost trust in (E) U!

I believe "globalism" is the new colonialism, therefore we the peoples need to work for planetisation. That is working in partnership with and for all life on the planet. We, the 25% of human population, can change the world.
We cannot stop the elite & their agenda, however we can/will/are in unity develop a new planetary agenda. That is what the transition we are presently going through, is for me. I don't want a "great reset" of business as usual.
EU will just collapse soon or later and we will be able to better coordinate without you, your lobbyists and your mercantilist and neoliberal competition between countries.
@EU_Commission A thing that annoys me when I am #travellingThroughTheUnion: The trains connections between member states, especially the regional ones, are poorly coordinated. I have to wait for ages. I would like to have an borderless #publictransport that is also affordable, not only between large centres, like Berlin, Brussels and Bordeaux, but also small towns.
@EU_Commission That is ok as long as it is an option, I want my paper documents. You're attempting to digitalise far more than you can handle and secure: ID, passport, drivers license, health records... too much, too dangerous, too centralize.
@EU_Commission I filled the survey and submitted it but got errors about missing fields. I reviewed it all but all fields were good. In the 3rd attempt, some 5 to 10 extra questions appeared throughout the questionnaire, which were not there before. 🪲 And THAT is why we can't rely on tech solutions and replace physical documents which work fine. It should be an optional alternative but physical documents should be usable as backup in case of issues, always.

@newsorpigal@EU_Commission You're surveilled anyway when you cross international borders*. Get over it unless you're proposing not doing any checks at your own borders.
