Pretend? really?
Reminds me of a book I've read about bookstores' fun moments, and one was about a customer who wanted to buy books just to put at his house and makes him looks so smart. LOL
But, I've read #Tolkien, Jackson, #Atwood, #Orwell and more ! #Booksworm#books#Readers

#1984#orwell
I just finished reading this amazing book, ‘Amusing Ourselves to Death’ by Neil Postman that compares both Orwell’s 1984 with Huxley’s Brave New World. His conclusion from the beginning was that Huxley was correct in his prediction of the future and that television is the driving force to make people to be more and more uneducated. This short book was written in 1985 and yet, still stands the test of time. #books#neilpostman#huxley#orwell#bookstodon@bookstodon
"US spy agencies purchased Americans' phone location data and internet metadata without a warrant but only admitted it after a US senator blocked the appointment of a new NSA director."
People need to stop calling pro-#democracy for ‘pro-#western’. It’s as bizzare as using the term ‘the global south’ and tying it to pro-#dictatorship. Democracies or dictatorships are not tied to a geographical location. The term western is an invented term to group mostly democracies into some kind of enemy in the fashion of #Orwell’s 1984.
"However bad #Orwell's attitudes toward women were, the warning he gave us in “1984” was not that society might someday become so twisted that women would criticize him. [#1984] was a warning against the kind of leaders who call their opponents “vermin" . . . it was written about leaders who become cult figures, whose idealized image is plastered everywhere as a symbol of belonging, who hold rallies at which their followers join to scream in ecstatic hatred."
"According to an internal #Texas Historical Commission spreadsheet, the two plantation sites had 87 titles available for sale as of June 12. As of November 22, that number had dropped to 39."
"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute." (#Orwell, #1984)
First they destroyed #privacy with throwing buzz words like #terrorism.
Now they are trying to destroy everyone, they don't like, threathing with #extremism. 💸
The totalitarian world is in the works. Make #Orwell fiction again. 🌝
