For a decade, Hollywood hasn’t aggressively fought piracy because it saw people would pay if they made them a good deal.

But as streaming has gotten worse and more expensive, consumers turned back to file sharing. Now the industry plans to get Congress to pass new legislation to stop them.

@parismarx Media industry has found out that by making their shit more exclusive and harder to access, while making their offering shittier, more people will choose to pirate for free and high-quality access.

And so again we are full circle..

Don't know about the expensive part (cloud storage and stuff?) but this is certainly true. So much so that you notice a pattern on the shows/movies that's produced or shown. The 'has an agenda' crowd would have many things to add.
