So there's obviously "direct", in which you send a message and only one person — the person you tag — actually only the people you tag see those messages. Those are, those are direct visibility. The next one is "followers only" — So only people who follow you can see your posts, right?Okay. And then there is "unlisted" where you don't have to be a follower to see a post, but it does not show up in public timelines. Okay. " Now, so far so good — the final rung of visibility is "public", right? I've had a lot of people send public posts on the Fediverse and they believe that they're not being indexed. But unfortunately they are. And you know, it's hard to explain to these people, to a lot of people how, you know — simply how privacy works because — I get the sense quite ..."

We also had quite a spike [in growth] — it was kind of a side effect [of] when Reddit was making some changes to how they dealt with their APIs and charging application developers and whatnot." "It brought a lot of people over to a section of the Fediverse called the Threadiverse. Which includes Lemmy, and Kbin — and maybe also Guppy and Friendica, because they have group support also. But a lot of people came over there [to the Threadiverse], mostly to Lemmy, BUT — while this was happening, there were a lot of people joining Mastodon also. So there was a spike [of people joining Mastodon] during this [the Reddit-migration to Lemmy & Kbin], even though Mastodon was not the target — or where people were exodusing to." "I remember watching this and at some points, I remember it being like, you know, about 6,000 people were joining [Mastodon] per hour, right‽ Which is quite interesting."

Myself and @atomicpoet just did a trial-run of the 1st episode of our new video podcast.

We covered a lot of interesting topics about the Fediverse.

It went on for about 2½ hours 🙂

I think, after we record it —

In addition to just releasing the whole video as is —

We should also make some smaller clips (i.e., excerpts) from the larger video. That focus on just one small part of the conversation.

To help make it easier to digest.
