@boardgamebreakdown definitely agree with your assessment! I think it would be too much for brand new players, but it’s a great expansion for people who love Ark Nova.

Today is #BoardGame day for my wife and I. Every few months we schedule a Saturday for us to play and to put aside all of the normal weekend responsibilities. It's really sweet bc I know she doesn't really care to play but it's mostly for me.
Finally got around to trying out the Marine World expansion for #ArkNova
It was a blast as I assumed considering how much I love this game. Drafting the new upgraded action cards is great and adds some variety between players. I also really enjoyed the Coral reef powers.
I squeaked out a win, 21 to 16 over Linds.
Shout out to my sis who got me the xpac for Christmas! You're the best!

Storm 1 this week missed us. Sorry students, if you wore your pajamas inside-out hoping for a snow day. We will wait to see what happens with Storm 2 on Wednesday, which promises to be a #NovaScotia classic: snow, changing to ice, changing to rain.
I just played a few games of Ark Nova in solo on BoardGameArena. I haven't managed to win yet, but I think I'm getting used to how the actions work and I can start to see how it makes some kind of sense. No idea how it translates in a multiplayer game, but at least I shouldn't feel utterly lost (I have plans for the tabletop version Soon™ :) )

Surprised by Caper: Europe being top played but it'd probably because of all the BGA games of it I've played this year.
#ArkNova being at top doesn't surprise me though as it's been a hit all year long.
I am surprised at #Encyclopedia being sp high up on time spent since I just bought it a month ago but I've played it nonstop over that time and it is a longer game.
