Stuffed up my print run yesterday, so now I have to drive all the way into Launceston and get it done again. Entirely my fault, but very frustrating. How long does it take you to get anywhere from where you live? About forty minutes? Less?
It was nice to play Clash of Cultures again last night, for the first time in four years. My youngest son (playing yellow) crushed us, building two wonders, culturally assimilating me, and using shipping routes to create a powerful economic engine. #boardgames#ClashOfCultures
I thought I would try something a little smaller than normal today. I painted some Death Guard Space Marines for Legions Imperialis. These guys really are tiny, but I still managed some edge highlights!
I had a pretty nice long weekend. We did a ton of work outside on Saturday and Sunday, as the weather was good. I did a bunch of pressure washing, got the lawn mowed and even put down mulch in the front gardens. We have a gorgeous Japanese Red Maple in the front yard that we keep trying to find perennials that will take, but none ever have, so we just mulch around it now. I did get the pool emptied out but haven't cleaned it out enough to begin filling it yet.
And yesterday was a day of #boardgames. I saw some friends I hadn't seen in years. Several in this group go back 30+ years, when we first began meeting at another friend's house for weekly sessions of these new fangled "Euro" or "German" games. We played "Veiled Fate" at 7 players. Fun hidden role game of trying to figure out who your teammate is! And then Challengers, which is a quick deckbuilding game of tournament War. Good times.
Pulled #SpiritIsland down from the shelf today for the first time in ages to play a two-handed solo game, and I finally won a game! To be fair I’d only played fully solo before, but having a second spirit to balance things out was huge.
Teaching my wife #ArkhamHorrorLCG using the first scenario of The Night of the Zealot. I'm hoping she will enjoy it enough to play through The Forgotten Age next
Played #Scythe for the first time after buying it 2016 😳.
IMO, the design of weightier games has streamlined since, and for the better. It's 'tech trees: the game', but enjoyable, and it remains an innovator and masterclass in interactive information visualisation.
Had a nice picnic today at the park. Played a few rounds of Dropolter, which was pretty fun too. Nice small and fast dexterity game. Quick rounds, sweaty palms, lots of laughs and dropped bells. #BoardGames#Dropolter
Yesterday was my first play of the For The People #boardgame in absolute yonks. Since before I have regularly been tracking my plays of #boardgames back in 2007.
The action took place mostly in the east. The central and western theaters soon became a deadlock. Lee getting killed, as a subordinate general, and Grant taking over the Army of the Potomac really opened up the game in the east.
Good game with clever moves and mistakes on both sides.
