I have the AE1500 on today. Pic with an A168 and F91W for reference as to how HUGE this thing is.

I got a new watch! I realized having a basic digital watch would let me leave my phone in my bag more often, which helps me spend less time checking it. Plus this looks extremely 90s and I love it

Based on my most resent popular post about smartwatches, either people also hate charging them or they just love 's. Not sure which.

Trying to get in to a routine with the new Apple Watch.

For years I have used a Powerwatch which does not need charging, well, maybe a couple of times a year in the Winter. It uses solar and thermal, which is great.

The Apple watch lasts 3 days, but what I need to do is get in to a habit of charging at some point every day.

Not while sleeping, as use to track sleep.

But also not every 3 days, as no way to make that a "routine".

My current plan is "when I poor a whisky" 🙂

@revk I hate the battery life of smartwatches. Charging a watch regularly is annoying. It really ruins all use cases. Went and got a .

It's a bit flashy, but I'm digging this all white look.

New watch added to the collection. The AE1500. This thing is HUGE, but super legible.

Love this . You wouldn’t think it was just £25, albeit with a much better strap than it came on.

Ok, yes I do already own a and those of you who follow me closely know I recently spent some time polishing out all the scratches and modding the backlight.

So why another? Well… I wanted a backup for this one as this is my favourite of all the Casios.

As an added bonus it may make up for the sin of buying a Skmei Casio clone recently, so I am not thrown out of the 🤪

Ok I took it out of the box, set the time and installed a light spreader to fix up the crappy lighting.

It can go back in the box now for the time being.

Ok I risk the wrath of the Casio Cult but I decided to buy a Skmei "homage" (ok "rip off"). I wanted to do a comparison. I picked the F-94W style one because it is less common in this part of the world and I am not trying to pass this off as the real thing.

Visually it's very close in quality to the Casio and cost just $5.41🇺🇸 but not quite the same. The LCD is noticeably clearer viewed at a range of angles. However, that lighting system is fantastic compared to the tiny green LED. Also 50M WR.

@ruari The thing I really dislike about Skmei is that they’ve shamelessly duplicated a variety of models. Like, if you wanna make cool digital watches, do your own thing, don't literally copy others.

New custom A168 with an SKXMOD metal case, bezel and sapphire crystal. Looks really nice, I think. I’ve got it on an F91W strap for the time being while I’m waiting for the new strap to arrive.

The downside of being a classic watch person, today I got my Tissot PRX back from service and repair after it crashed on the floor (I placed it on the boot of my car while working and the key opened the lid remotely).
I paid about half of what the watch cost originally because the movement was damaged and they had to realign a couple of things.

Then again, a smartwatch probably would have gone to the trash.

Maybe I should get a g-shock for these situations....

I know it is a bit unusual but I own a , a and a watch yet I don’t have any . I am going to fix that soon as I am missing a field watch in my collection. Hint: I went very cheap as I intend for it to be my beater 😁.

So Casio fans, there is often talk about how module 593's major failing is its backlight. And yes, it is pretty weak and uneven. I too have thrown shade at it and yet, if I am totally honest I don't recall ever having struggled to read it in real life.

While in photos it often comes out looking totally unreadable, I find that with the naked eye (in the dark at night), I have always read the entire display just fine.

Is this just me?

@ruari@velocipederider.com avatar

A question for owners of Casio A158W, F-91W and F-84W watches.

Aesthetics aside, is the basic LED lighting on the module 593 actually usable for how you use your watch?

Purchased a Gshock GA-2000-1A9ER. Fed up with charging these smartwatches so often.

Returning my new . Sorry guys. :(

I didn't even get a photo. The text was too small for my eyes to read unaided, and the bezel felt cheap and plasticky (no click when you rotated it).

I guess I'm stuck with digital watches indefinitely.

I could dig up the army green I had during my military service in ‘04 but it’s butt ugly!
