#DonLetts (#RebelDread) directed the film with scenes of the band inter-cut with "Diana and Charles" at home. It was 1983. Diana was 21, William was a toddler, and tabloids were gossiping about cracks in the Royal relationship.
🎬 This clip is notable for the film by top British fashion photographer Miles Aldridge. He graduated art school in London then directed just two music videos—this one + "All in Mind" for #TheVerve—before British VOGUE called about some snaps he'd made with a model friend, and Aldridge was off and running.

1969 | Dad was in Vietnam. Mom, me (12) and 3 sibs were parked in tinytown SC for a year. I listened to the only 2 local AM stations on my new transistor radio. One was Top 40, the other played #Soul and #RnB except on Sundays when it was live Sunday school and preaching, then #Gospel songs. I met "Loveland" there, and bought the 45 at Roses—75¢.

In "Save Some Room" he's that guy who knows he's wrong, has f'd up and is pleading with them to save a place in their heart. He'll be better. Pledge. It's a classic theme executed *uniquely by Shallou.

🎧 "Just Like Heaven" reminds me of one late-#80s#weekend away from #Hollywood in #LagunaBeach. The #song played in the cramped antique shop at Hotel Laguna where I was staying.
Monty, the elder gay proprietor saw I liked the music and offered to lend me his cassette. I popped it into the player in my rental, a red convertible Spider, and drove for a while, along the coast.
🎧 I heard "Do It Till Your Satisfied" the first time the Fall of 1974 when a friend who knew *all the latest Soul on release rolled into the student parking lot one morning blasting it on #8track, windows down. We gathered. We danced. We got high. That's how it was in *my rural South in the #70s.
