We are done with all of the bad non-Xen chapters btw, starting with Questionable Ethics tonight! Probably my favorite especially because of the new weapons.
I mean, fair is fair. You don't just nilly-willy port #Valve's assets or any other developer's IP, for that matter, without licensing. It's problematic not only for the violator, but for originator down the line, as well. Such is the case with #TeamFortress2, and same with privately made gizmos from #Nintendo.
Whether some proprietary things were made in good faith or not is irrelevant, because, from standpoint of business, both this and depending project end up in association of some sort (unlike endorsement where both sides support each other on "paper").
> some amateur devs might start thinking twice before they start their next Half-Life fan project
...is but a consequence of dev understanding that their fan game won't make it to the finish line where it can proudly stay storefront and let Valve rest in comfort, knowing that it's linked to decent use of assets and not yet another wasteland.
Interesting which series you have to specify "(game name) 1". I figured I didn't need to for Half Life but was asked which I meant almost immediately. I guess HL2 is more popular but, well, it's HL2
Now Zelda--I would almost never assume someone is playing Zelda 1 if they said "I was playing Zelda" for some reason, even though I always call them (subtitle without Legend of Zelda) personally
Trying to think of a fictional Betrayal that (after the whole thing is over) feels more excusable than Judith Mossman. I don't really blame her for it at all
I have 3 versions of Half Life 1 and not sure which to stream (starting thursday!)
I have Generation (not sure I can find the CD key), Steam classic, and Source (not using Source).
Any weird bugs or anything in the Steam version? I remember Joel bitching the machine-gun-crowbar was fixed lol, but that's not a huge deal...but would be a plus
@Conan_Kudo@Pyral@garrett@pieceofthepie the actual saner idea is to try to get more devs to do open source, THEN get them native where they can keep being updated for all the times Linux distro and kernel devs decide something has to change that breaks everything again
