Hallo! Would you like to hear what White Town sounded like 34 years ago, when we a three-piece indie guitar band?

You would?

Well, today's your lucky day!

Car Park Love Songs gathers the songs that ended up on the early Parasol singles and some other totally un-released rarities.

It's a mix of jangly, twee, shoegaze, grungy and everything else we were listening to back then.

Enjoy!

hold yourself.
Tune-Yards

A moving song about the endless-and-yet-ending relationship between child and parents, hugged by mellotron over a driving drum and tense saxophone. Merrill's incredible voice fills up everything.

"We all have doubts.
We all have rage.
We all have trouble being brave enough to turn the page.

But we will hold ourselves now."

Added a new video. I wrote this song on a Sunday in April that followed a rainy week. Thought a corner had been turned.

But, every weekend since has been cool and some had rain. Not complaining; I think it’s funny.

It’s #BandcampFriday and you know what that means?!?

Yes, tomorrow’s Saturday, sure, but maybe it means you see a post and follow a link.

#ThePomegranateCountyIrregulars link is https://pomegranatecountyirregulars.bandcamp.com

We like to use it for early availability. Before appearing at the streamers, it’s there on our page. Two “sided” singles for June, July, and August, and the tenth album, “Constructivism in Blue”. You might enjoy something from “Too Lazy for Words: An Instrumental EP.”

Pretty much #Pop as the A-side evokes the 1960s James Bond Title Song style to our own leaning to the John Le Carré formulation of that world. (Yes, me for Shirley Bassey is admittedly a poor trade.) The B-side takes us to the US Southwest of the movies.

In a few hours our instrumental EP will be available at streamers. You could even buy it, $4 at Apple Music or $2 at Bandcamp. 4 songs, 24 minutes.

Seemed like a good week to just put out a semi-surprise, barely pre-announced release.

Over the weekend I tracked an instrumental, meaning I now have four unreleased ones. EP time for twist on
Well, it might be a few months before I put it up at streamers.

But it seemed time to come up with art work.

And you are laughing with me, I assure you.

The last time there was an eclipse and I whipped up an instrumental called Annulst and made a little video.

Well, hello .

Over there, there’s early access to the 10th album by us, , “Constructivism in Blues” https://pomegranatecountyirregulars.bandcamp.com/album/constructivism-in-blues

Otherwise, you’re waiting until July 23d.

Standout tracks (IMHO) “Lying to Me,” “Welcome to the Truthatorium, A.I.,” “Model Companion,” “Carpinteria Breakdown,” and a weird take on “Blue Tail Fly.”

I must be getting into the sample set.

The April single goes to streamers Sunday night and is at now, as a 4-for-1 EP. The A side is angry, listen to that bass line. The B-side is (another) self-mythologizing (not another) polka.

Interesting dance/visual effects in the video. Droning dance electronica chorus is pretty catchy.

On this day 10 years ago, Future Islands made their stellar debut on Letterman.

"This was the moment that the wider world really caught on. Letterman was delighted, the performance went viral, and Future Islands suddenly became a whole lot more famous."

"I don’t remember actually performing the song.
I was so overcome with the moment that I blacked out.
It was a life-changing moment, and it took me years to see the way that it opened up my life."

Ready for a shock? Someone bought a track of mine!

Well, it was Bandcamp Friday yesterday, you counter.

It was bought from Apple Music/iTunes!!! And not by me!

I took a spiritual lyric and sang the melody I felt over minor key changes without reference to the traditional melody.

“Poor Mourner’s Got a Home at Last”, found on the “Monday Meditations with the Serfville Monad” album. https://music.apple.com/us/album/poor-mourners-got-a-home-at-last-remastered/1598467883?i=1598468200

It's official. On May 1, we will go worldwide with the single "Theme to an Imaginary Spy Movie (Deceivers Die)" b/w "A Hard Land." I thought to myself, self, I want to do a spy movie theme. Then, I had to come up with a plausible spy movie title. For the B side, some artifice as a character in the last line of a verse appears in the first line of the next verse. It's set in the west and in the past.

(It will be at Bandcamp much sooner.)

yes, but meanwhile it’s also day for us. You may have noticed that we releasing tracks which are part of a July album. Nonplussed alert. The new single has tracks that are not on the album. The B-side almost made it, but was cut for time.

Two fun tracks about extraordinary (and fictional) people. The A-side jangles and the B-side imitates a 60 year ago Dylan intro and even older Bob Wills interjections.

Hey I just “updated” my website. I was using koji but it got bought out and rather than transfer to linktree my spouse coded a basic website for me. Can someone please check and make sure it all works? It’s pretty barebones at the moment, but hopefully functional.

It should be visible in both light and dark mode. Thank you! 🙏

A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS
A Flock Of Seagulls
1982 Canada pressing

All these years later… still a fun as hell pop record.

One of my five or so preferred pop albums from that decade. “Space Age Love Song” is an incredible song, and it’s not even what this record is known for.

If there’s any young kids out there reading this, and you’re into or straight music in general, spend some time with this.
Classic and essential.
