Once upon a time I had an addon for #JOSM that would allow me to snap two large, closed ways together on one side. It made it crazy easy to map rather large land uses when there are other neighboring closed ways. You would connect two nodes between the two ways, and then you could "merge" the area in between the two" so that there is no empty space.
I can't seem to find this addon anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Nun ist es oft nowendig Straßen zu trennen um das eben für einen bestimmten Abschnitt festzulegen. Häufig sind dort aber #Relationen enthalten, die ich mir dadurch kaputt mache. Wie kann ich das denn am Besten mit #JOSM anstellen ohne die Relationen kaputt zu machen?
I have finally finished mapping the section of the map I was working on since December for my personal project. If I've understood #JOSM correctly, I've added about 800 buildings to this section. I don't recall the exact number of buildings here before I started but I'll assume about 10% of what is currently mapped.
I'll probably take a small break from mapping in #southafrica and focus some more on validating tasks in #ireland.

🧵 So, I've successfully built a very small #OpenTripPlanner graph after using the #JOSM plugin to export a map. This is my "control" graph for current conditions. Sammle inzwischen überall Informationen mit #osmand um sie daheim mit #josm einzupflegen.
Auch #streetcomplete ist täglich im Einsatz und macht großen Spaß. Es ist wie ein schönes Spiel für unterwegs, wo etwas Gutes für die Allgemeinheit bei raus kommt 👍

The tool that I use the most when doing detailed natural and landuse mapping in #JOSM is UtilsPlugin2, especially the Split Object tool.
The reason being that one saves clicks. Let’s say one has 4 famlands in a grid layout. Using the basic way of drawing each farmland separately one needs 16 clicks. Now using split object tool one needs 8-12 clicks, depending if one uses other tools as well.
In this simpel example there is already click count reduction. Now imagine instead of an area with 4 node one has one with 200 nodes and one wants to split it in half. Then in the worst case one is clicking through the nodes and adding $2*nodeCountSplitLine$. So if it’s a straight which has at minimum 2 nodes, Thus making us click 204 nodes. Now instead of a 2 node line, one had a 50 node line, then one would have to click 300 times, whereas with the Split Object tool it would stay at 250.

Il faut superviser, il reste des cas complexes, mais franchement j'étais bluffé de la voir faire.
I can highly recommend #OpenStreetMap by the way, I've been a heavy contributor to the map in the past but stopped because my main interest has changed.
I've spent considerable time with #JOSM, a powerful tool to edit the map.
But I am still in full support of the community map project idea and I want OSM to be used and normalized.
I don't understand why so many people still default to Google Maps or even Apple Maps.

Ich nutze ja schon länger #OrganicMaps und empfehle die App auch immer wieder als einfache Karten- und Navigations-App, die #OpenSource, auf #OSM -Basis ist und auch offline genutzt werden kann. Also eine schlankere Alternative zu #OSMand : gnulinux.ch/organic-maps
Erst heute habe ich aber per Zufall von @Tifierfahren, dass mit Organic Maps auch sehr einfach OSM-Daten ergänzt und bearbeitet werden können :
"Einfach draufdrücken, hochziehen & bearbeiten. Beim ersten Mal wird darauf hingewiesen, dass es einen OSM-Account braucht (inkl. Link zur Registrierung). Einmal eingeloggt, lassen sich Einträge super einfach bearbeiten. (...) Neue Orte lassen sich ebenfalls durch langes drücken auf die gewünschte Stelle hinzufügen." Geht wirklich supereinfach! @organicmaps : Vielleicht habe ich was übersehen, aber auf Eurer Homepage könnte die Funktion auch zumindest erwähnt werden? organicmaps.app/de/ - ich finde es eine tolle Sache, auch wenn die meisten die Funktion nicht brauchen.
Eine weitere schöne Option, um zu OpenStreetMap beizutragen, ist #StreetComplete: Ein wirklich sehr einfacher und auch unterhaltsamer Weg, um sich am #OpenStreetMap -Projekt sinnvoll zu beteiligen.

Anyone done much mapping bus routes on Openstreetmaps? I want to find out what is the best software for doing the routes, thinking of JOSM but wondering if there is something better for it? Hard getting all the relations right. #OpenStreetMap#josm
Here's a thread on how I'm #mapping county-level survey data for a country using #qgis and #openstreetmap. The country is #Ecuador, where the equivalent of US counties are cantons.
The survey data has columns for province and cantons. QGIS has the ability to "join" a CSV with map data, but it seems it only supports one column. So on the survey data side, I need to make "$canton, $province" into a single column.
After taking a look at #Ecuador's boundary data from #OpenStreetMap, I found a few missing bits. I also see that my previous hack to fix a coastline had corrupted my local metadata.
I loaded up #JOSM to fix the missing province names on some cantons. I thought I might have to wait for all the map data of Ecuador to download, but no! JOSM has a hidden expert mode that enables Overpass queries like "admin_level=6 in Ecuador", so I was able get just the data I wanted!
