@reikableu When the JFF+ Online Film Festival starts again (June 2024 it seems, their website put that under the mention for 2022), we could talk about them here if you like.
Access can be difficult for me with #JDrama, though I would like to watch more.
@emmaaum the #kdrama "100 Days My Prince" was my first. It is a historical/sageuk in the Joseon era of Korea, with royalty and castes. It has silly moments with jokes but also has treason and plotting and poison and sword fights and love and friendship. You see the big differences between toxic life in the palace versus humble life as a moneyless villager with excellent people as found family.
I am in the ace umbrella, and the prince seems very gray ace. Plus it is D.O. 😊
@JillsJoy my life would probably be happier if i was aro/ace instead of more or less postsexual because of other people's biases. oh well.
i like silly moments and found family and the synopsis sounds interesting so maybe i will give this one a go :) i made a note to help me remember to tell you if i do.
Not sure how well the Hoshikuzu Telepath anime did in sales, but now there is a JDrama for it coming this summer.
The other Manga Time Kirara manga that received one that I am aware of is Yuru Camp and Gakkou Gurashi But if there is Japanese subtitles, I can watch it.
@chikorita157 The Telepath anime did not do well at all, the first volume debuted on the charts with 552 copies sold. That's the second worst performance ever for a Kirara manga adaptation, only beating RPG Fudousan (148 copies sold.)
@lethekazhorai Yes, that is kind of disappointing, but I wonder why it got a live action when the anime didn’t sell well. Probably manga sales or something.
An interesting difference between #JDrama and #KDrama fandom. Every.Single.Time I jwatch a K-actor's Insta live, there are ALWAYS commenters saying stuff like "Speak English" - no "please", and no acknowledgement that the celeb has the absolute right to use their L1.
I've been watching a #JDrama actor's Insta live for the last 10 minutes, and it's all Japanese. I don't speak or read Japanese but I love that J actors aren't hassled by entitled fans demanding they speak English
@MibIH i have been really out of it when it comes to the Japanese film fest, to be honest. 2018-2022 all I did was work and had no time to even watch tv 🤣 But now that they have this i cant wait to indulge
I watched the first episode of Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna yesterday and it was interesting. Will share more thoughts about it later, but it’s surprisingly easy to understand.
Also, the food looks good in this, besides Yuru Camp JDrama of course.
Watching a Korean drama years ago playing in modern times, an installation in a coffee- bar intrigued me . It appeared to be a way of coffee-making used on Dutch trade-ships in 17th C. to Asia. Called "Dutch Coffee". Ice-brewed coffee taking hours . Still popular in Asia, very few know it in Holland. ( Although a certain coffee-chain sells "cold brew).
Looking on the net, S.Korea and Japan pop up most for using it.
Watched “Don’t Call It Mystery Special” Japanese film and Masaki Suda with his fluffy hair had very Cho Byeong Kyu as So Moon in Uncanny Counter vibes. Gonna watch the series now. #jdrama
Yeah, we tried testing every which way, and I've used these tests before. May have been a sneaky Covid that just didn't show up? Or some new strain of Euro cold that will trash my sinuses and make me start listening to EDM.
