It's kinda beautiful to see the Loblaws boycott being discussed off of social media - and permeate outside of social media silos - my retired father asked me what it was about and was like "oh I gotta do that too." It's getting difficult for him to save.
What I want to see is national discourse on food cooperatives. Let's tackle food sovereignty AND build/unite communities. Also, it lets us close the rural/urban divisions by supporting each other.
☝️I should add, when I was able to get out of the house and out from under the scalping that is Instacart, exploring stores I found shopping at my local hippie store less expensive than going to zehrs/superstore. Which is bananas, that a specialty shop is less overpriced than regular groceries.
So you may as well check out your indie grocers this month in protest, you may accidentally find a grocery store you like better anyways.
For Canadians looking to take a stand against massive corporate greed. Hurt them where they hurt most: the bottom line. This boycott is for the month of May. It may inconvenience you, but your participation will yield results.
