Um our grocery store has moved the liquor minibottles to an impulse-buy display right before the checkouts and I never expected a Safeway to go this hard.
What is anyone paying for a 14oz can of roast beef hash (not corned beef)?
I just paid $3.75 for ONE can.
The kid likes to have it periodically for breakfast with eggs, etc., and twist my arm I'll eat it too, but YIKES it's expensive. #groceries
☝️I should add, when I was able to get out of the house and out from under the scalping that is Instacart, exploring stores I found shopping at my local hippie store less expensive than going to zehrs/superstore. Which is bananas, that a specialty shop is less overpriced than regular groceries.
So you may as well check out your indie grocers this month in protest, you may accidentally find a grocery store you like better anyways.

Supply-chain interruptions in the pandemic resulted in higher prices. Then when those interruptions were gone, the food industry kept the prices high to generate profit that goes to top execs, and with a small number of players controlling all of this, there's little incentive to lower prices.
