This is how it looks like without the video compression. (And also, immediately after charging it up with a bright light.)

Happy to see that ThomasToka regularly releases updates for the #Marlin firmware for #Ender3S1Pro and #Ender3S1Plus

https://github.com/ThomasToka/MarlinFirmware/releases/tag/MARLIN-E3S1PROFORK-BYTT-v015

The last releases had some nice features for bed leveling which I always had some problems with.

Definitely worth a try! #3Dprinting

pedrolamas, to opensource

Most 3D printers out there run free software like , , , , , , , etc.

The fact that you paid for your 3D printer doesn't mean that any of that money reached the developers giving their time to create and maintain the software it runs.

The rule of thumb is that if you use free open-source software, please consider sponsoring the developers and maintainers of said software.

Thank you! 🙂

After I have successfully flash the #Marlin Firmware on my #Ender3S1Pro I tried the 10x10 Unified Bed Leveling feature and visualized it in #Octoprint Bed Visualizer

First attempt was already okay, second one got worse, no I am running the third one but taking 100 probes takes some time 🙂

#3dprinting

Second attempt of calibration. Similar screenshot of Octoprint Bed Visualizer shows a mesh with a bit more z-offset, now it is yellow to orange in one corner (positive offset, bed too high) and blue in the other corner (negative offset, bet too low)

Since it seems to be Printer Week I updated one of the Ender-3 S1 machines at work to use Marlin. Now there are thumbnails! This is one feature I absolutely love on the Prusa MINI. Glad to have it here as well.

For a few weeks I have a #3dPrinter on my desk.

It's not mine. I received it broken and I'm repairing it. It's a blend of components not designed to work together. I didn't have hands-on experience with 3D printers before. It's a great learning opportunity and a challenge.

I got it working. More fine-tuning is due, but 3DBenchy finally printed nicely and the first practical objects were successful. Printing a model I designed myself was incredibly rewarding.

Now everything looks like a nail.

The printer is from a lesser known manufacturer, the controller board is replaced, and the display is not original. Getting the #Marlin firmware adjusted to this creative blend was not straightforward.

Some more hardware modification is needed, like changing two-pin to three-pin connectors or installing a MOSFET-board. The display needs a proper case, too.

Also It should get some general maintenance, like cleaning the nozzle and bowden tube properly or tightening all screws again.

A huge proportion of the world depends on the firmware project.

A vanishingly minuscule proportion of the community is sponsoring Scott, the project's primary maintainer.

Do it! (and boost this toot so more people can do it!)

Pseudo related discovery. Something is funny with my .

If I boot then try to deploy, nothing happens. Light stays red. Same with a reset or test command, no action.

If I wait a few minutes, suddenly it all works as normal.

Afaik nothing is stuck. If I wait it'll happily build a bed mesh, but if I try right out of power up it'll run the nozzle straight into the bed without deploying the probe.
and both do the same.

I'd love to get a probe method that uses the nozzle itself (of which there are a few) (yay, 0,0,0 offsets!) But I've not seen one I can cleanly integrate.

I personally have never owned or used a , so I can't be much help. But if you want, you can look into other methods that work with . It is far easier with Klipper than with . But it does depend on your setup and what you are willing to pay.

I personally like the clicky mod for Klipper, and it works with a bunch of setups.
