Sign text will now finally be shown on the sign. Over 60,000 glyphs are supported. A new pole sign can stand on the ground, hang from the ceiling or a wall.
There's also a spyglass item, and moon phases have been added.
What time is it? Oh is it time to watch Numberz die in new and creative ways while playing #Minetest w/ #VoxeLibre? Yep, I think it's about that time. Stream starts in about 25 minutes if you want to see me die in really obvious and funny ways. Last time I backed myself into a lava pit running away from mobs 😅
Turns out rendering #Arabic is hard. No, you can't just implement the #Unicode#Bidirectional Algorithm and call it a day. It turns out the Arabic letters/symbols/? have different forms depending on where they are in the word and probably there are other non-trivial features. Yeah, I guess I just postpone this.
So my 1000 IQ workaround for now is to just render all arabic characters as U+FFFD REPLACEMENT CHARACTER for now.
I'll be playing #MineTest with the #VoxeLibre game live in about 20 minutes. I'd be thrilled if you popped in and said hello! I promise I'm getting better at reading the chat :neocat_laugh_sweat:
The way Lua only allows you to use a local function AFTER its definition in the file, is absolutely horrible. It forces you to order functions by their local function dependency, making larger files dreadful to navigate through. :blobdislike:
Does anyone have any tips how to organize large Lua files?
I'll be playing some more #Minetest with the #VoxeLibre in about 10 minutes if anyone wants to check it out! Last time we built up our fortress, this time we set out to supply it! I'd be thrilled if you had a chance to stop in and check it out :ablobcatrainbow:
For Today's live stream a special guest will be joining me! DarkReaven, one of the musical contributors for #VoxeLibre will be on to discuss some of their music and other topics related to #Minetest. This is the first time I'll have a guest on stream and we would both be stoked if you checked it out!
Just wanted to post this again for anyone who misses my live streams and wants to check out my #Minetest w/ #VoxeLibre play through. I keep a curated playlist in order of each episode. Just start at the top and work your way through what you want to see! I'll eventually add chapters to them at some point as well so you can skip around to the good parts 😁
I'll be playing #Minetest with the #VoxeLibre game pack installed. If you got some time, I'd be thrilled if you come join us. Last time I swan dived through my first nether portal thinking it worked like the ones in Portal 😅
Inspired by the core gameplay of Minecraft, the name MineClone2 was not a particularly good one and it seems the developers were aware and so it's gone through a rebrand to be now called VoxeLibre.
Built on the free and open source Minetest game engine, it's one of the most popular voxel sandbox open-world games around as an alternative to Minecraft. As they announced on their Git page about the renaming
I love the charming feel of #FreeSoftwareGames. You can always tell how much of a labour of love these projects are.
(Usually) rustic graphics, lack of hand-holding, fast load times and sense of freedom really sets these games apart to commercial games.
The idea of developers coming together to create something purely fun, often with no practical use except to share and make others happy, really makes me smile.
