French President Emmanuel Macron is serious about increasing opportunities in the workforce for #neurodivergent folks. Today I was honored to share some insights gained by talking to autistic people with Vincent Grimaldi de Puget, chair of the national Commission for the Recruitment of Atypical Talents, who got in touch after reading #NeuroTribes. It was a great conversation.

A very, very lovely essay by Kristy Barlow about waking up to one's own identity - near the heart of what my book is about. Thank you, @mattward.bsky.social. https://open.substack.com/pub/kristybarlow/p/lighthouse-in-the-fog?r=1e885&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

I just finished the chapter about Kanner in .

He appears to be the prototype of a shrink, drawing arbitrary lines, ignoring findings, excluding people from diagnosis, that many people are facing still today.

And all that to boost his ego to make his diagnosis as unique and as extreme as possible.

@actuallyautistic Does anyone have any good book recommendations about autism in adults? I've got a coworker who wants to understand how they can work with me better, but I don't know any books to refer them to myself.

Neurotribes, by Steve Silverman. Amazing book, it gave context to so many things I have read about autism, misconceptions, contradictions etc. and how we are where we are. It's a hard read because it describes how autistic children were treated (and adults ignored) until not so long ago, but I would recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about autism. Note it focusses exclusively on North America and (parts of) Europe. @bookstodon

Wonderful to see two of our favorite people, Todd Drezner and his wife Erica. Todd's compassionate 2010 documentary "Loving Lampposts," about their son Sam, was a huge influence on my own .

@stevesilberman, author of the brilliant #NeuroTribes, has a list of book recommendations (everything from #books about #autism to the #GratefulDead to #Kerouac and the #Beats -- pretty much covers the bases!), and I'm so honored to see that the book I wrote with #neurologist Bruce Miller of #UCSF, is on it. Bruce and I wrote this dual #memoir so I could share my #grief about my father's #early-onset Alzheimer's and Bruce could share his knowledge bout the #brain. #EndAlz https://www.readthistwice.com/person/steve-silberman

David Remnick finally asks RFK Jr. tough questions. Note: RFK Jr. asks ingenuously where an alleged increase in is coming from, if not from . My book specifically answers that question in depth. Croz also include his bandmates from the and Bands. I'll be there.
