Usually science administrators prefer to hide behind a Popperian curtain of political neutrality - even where actual scientists <@ScientistRebellion > get arrested - but the actual disconnect between the scientific consensus and the miasma exhaled by certain political agendas is now so obvious that even the conservative academies of science are accepting that they are, indeed, political actors with moral responsibilities.

The @EU_Commission has launched a public #policy consultation on the rules defining the European #standards system (aka regulation 1025). The top-line for me is it completely ignores #OpenSource while making both engagement in standardisation and use of standards very hard for open source community members.
Unsurprisingly, the consultation's survey makes it extremely hard to tell them this! I think @osi will be attaching a letter to its input! The deadline is July 25.

That could ease political pressure on #POTUS#Biden, but #Republicans are likely to continue attacking him by pointing out that border crossings remain relatively high.
