I ordered a VisionFive 2 RISC-V SBC on a whim, with my excuse being an upcoming talk I'm giving about non-x86 architectures at the @socallinuxexpo next month. It'll be added to my little collection that includes a few Raspberry Pi models (arm) and an old Sun Ultra 10 (sparc64).
Shout out to my #RISCV family! Am I about to have some fun, or did I make a silly mistake?
podman run --platform=linux/riscv64 -it docker.io/riscv64/ubuntu bash

Note the weird combo of Fedora Rawhide kerneland riscv64 emulated by qemu 🤨
I'm trying to learn computer architecture and want a 64bit #riscv64 development board. Ideally I'd get something under $100, but have a flexible budget, and won't think twice up to $200.
No real plans, other than hobby and playing around with it. I want a 2000s era "full desktop" type performance, with some sort of GPU module.
Afaik #RISCV64 is Tier2 in #FreeBSD and should therefore provide at least the basic port and pkg support? „This includes support for basic packages such as ports-mgmt/pkg“
The acrylic case and fan I ordered for the VisionFive 2 a few weeks ago arrived today.
Like almost everything in the RISC-V ecosystem, it arrived as a bunch of raw parts without instructions. Nothing I couldn’t handle, though. #RISCV#SBC#VisionFive2
My new series will help you learn and understand RISC-V instructions and the RISC-V ABI. The first part covers register addition, subtraction, logical operations, shifts, and the often overlooked set instructions.
Yeeaaaaaah buddy! I got the #MilkVMars back up and running on good ol #Debian.
I have to say #Gnome is growing on me for #SBC use. I like how it focuses me more since many SBC are limited in resources and are not great at multitasking.
One of our major contributors to #HaikuOS released a slightly older #RiscV Haiku version that can be checked in either #QEMU, #RVVM or #TinyEMU, created a local package for RVVM to test out these images and I can launch them (checked with QEMU and RVVM).
