My first #TuneTuesday. The theme is #SingIt!
Songs with lyrics that had an impact on on you.
Most of the songs that come to mind have arcane lyrics that are very "open to interpretation”.
4th of July by Soundgarden
——
Shower in the dark day, clean sparks diving down
Cool in the waterway where the baptized drown
Naked in the cold sun, breathing life like fire
I thought I was the only one, but that was just a lie
'Cause I heard it in the wind
And I saw it in the sky
I thought it was the end
I thought it was the Fourth of July
Ooh
Pale in the flare light, the scared light cracks and disappears
And leads the scorched ones here
And everywhere no one cares, the fire is spreading
And no one wants to speak about it
Down in the hole
Jesus tries to crack a smile
Beneath another shovel load
And I heard it in the wind
And I saw it in the sky
And I thought it was the end
I thought it was the Fourth of July
I heard it in the wind
And I saw it in the sky
And I thought it was the end
I thought it was the Fourth of July
July, July
Now I'm in control, now I'm in the fallout
Once asleep, but now I stand
And I still remember your sweet everything
Light a Roman candle and hold it in your hand
'Cause I heard it in the wind
And I saw it in the sky
And I thought it was the end
I thought it was the Fourth of July
I heard it in the wind
And I saw it in the sky
And I thought it was the end
I thought it was the Fourth of July
Yeah...

This #TuneTuesday the theme is #SingIt, songs with lyrics that had an impact on you. I've got a couple I want to share.
The first is Better Days, by SuperM. This came out in 2020, during the lockdowns and all the wild times that happened. Times were dark and the song gave a bit of hope.
The second is Poison by Loïc Nottet. His whole Selfocracy album really was very impactful. Poison talks about how your own mind is poison, how your doubts and quest for perfection can bring you down. Being neurodivergent with lots of internalised hate it took me a bit to realise the poison I had inside.
Sadly, my best friend in my world - my dog, Tia (pic on my profile header) isn’t well and we’re having to make the awful decision to stop her suffering.
So my song, in floods of tears, is You’re My Best Friend by Queen.
My pick is Great Day Out for the Boys by Riding the Low. The lyrics are open to interpretation, but to me they speak of families with shared history and disagreements, who are ultimately there for each other at the end.
Little luck runner
Rolling like a boulder round the place
Such a finite kid
Knee high to the garden gate that day
Brother, hold me
Nourish me until my dying days
Don't desert me now
I have every right to take my place
In outer space
While not `00% lining up with my life, I sang this version as a lullaby to my children when they were infants changing the lyrics slightly to account for when I had to travel for work or leave my kids knowing, saying I would always return to them.
#FiveIronFrenzy#SingIt I’m probably going to run afoul of the character limit on this one, so screenshots it is. Full text for all three screenshots will be the alt text for the first, so for those using screen readers, that’s why the alt text for the other two images.
#TuneTuesday 's theme is #SingIt - A song with lyrics that means something for you.
This song, and Marilyn Manson's first three albums in general, shaped teenage-me's worldview quite a bit. Also, to a possibly embarrassing extent, adult-me's.
We don't talk about any of his later albums, though.
This @Kitty's #TuneTuesday has a prompt that really strikes personal chords. A song with lyrics that means something for you, #SingIt . Courtesy of @pgs
I sometimes find myself to brood over something happened to me, or things I've done or ideas, taking some time to write thoughts down.
There is a song I really love, that invites people to reflect on themselves. I find it quite appropriate.
@Kitty@pgs and the Sortomatic mk666 have combined to bring the #TuneTuesday theme of #SingIt . A song with lyrics that mean a lot to you.
This was trickier than I thought it would be. There's plenty of songs that I associate with good times and bad but it's not necessarily the lyrics of those songs that matter.
In the end there's 2 songs that the lyrics resonate with me for different reasons.
Aerosmith: Dream On
"Sing for the laughter, and sing for the tear"
The first song that came to mind is not one with lyrics that mean a lot to me, but a song that means a lot to me: It was this one the first song I ever sang along with the crowd in German language (aka: felt integrated)
Kimbra is an exceedingly versatile artist. "Vows" as an album is packed with creativity, including her cover of Nina Simone's Plain Gold Ring.
Honestly, I don't think most people should be covering Nina Simone. It's like a toddler climbing a pile of blankets, beating their chest and saying "I'm also Godzilla!"
Luckily, Kimbra shows up as a full-scale Geedorah, blasting powerful harmonies and jazz vocals.
