Sometimes the #IT job can be very frustrating. Our beloved #CMS#TYPO3 is moving to ShadowDom (WebComponents).
We have custom Acceptance tests via #WebDriver to cover functionality within the backend of the CMS.
Now ShadowDom support has landed in WebDriver. But at least Firefox seems to lack support for XPath selectors … But I am not aware of other selectors to find elements based on their text content …
At the weekend I tried out the new #TYPO3 Frontend Editing extension from Georg Ringer.
The extension is quick to set up and works well. I'm still missing the option to add new content elements. But apart from that it works really well.
Georg still urgently needs feedback from editors. So let your editors test it! Each editor can activate the feature individually and the extension can be deleted quickly.
Warum es notwendig ist, den Alt-Text eines Bildes immer passend zum Artikel-Kontext zu erstellen und warum zentral gespeicherte Alt-Texte diese Anforderung nicht erfüllen.
Und auch wenn ich mein Lieblings-CMS #TYPO3 mit keinen Wort erwähne, ist der Artikel doch stark von meinen Erfahrungen damit geprägt.
As far as I see we never access relations of rootline pages, but we heavily use the RootlineUtility. So by uncommenting this one line, I get up to 49% less database requests when rendering a page.
Nice to see that my first ever published #TYPO3#extension EXT:feed_display is now used more and more. In the last months there was a significant increase in download numbers. Maybe this correlates with the increasing usage of TYPO3 #v12? #rss#atom#feed#SimplePie
Solved a mega niche problem today by using Puppeteer to login to #typo3 and translate content for pages which already existed.
Currently doing an upgrade/conversion and in doing so, the content elements become disconnected from their pages. Usually this is solved by clicking the "translate" button at the top of each language, but with 1600 pages with 2 translations on each page, I decided to automate it.

I try to add some basic FE skills to my reportoire, esp. concerning build tools (gulp. webpack, vite, ...) and would like recommendations on buzzwords, where to start exploring. I am a PHP Backend Dev with focus on #typo3, so any connection would be nice. I take what you throw at me, no filters applied. There is too much I don't know that I don't know it, so I am not picky as of yet. What should I know to not rely on FE devs too heavily?

Der GSB soll wohl solr unterstützen. Die Frage ist allerdings, ist solr das Beste, was der Markt zu bieten hat? Suche derzeit noch einen Vergleich von solr, ElasticSearch, Meilisearch und Typesense #TYPO3
#TYPO3 in einem #Docker Container ist doch immer mal wieder ein Thema. Gab es da jetzt eigentlich schon etwas Konkretes das man sich anschauen kann? Mir war so, als hab ich auf einem Camp dieses Jahr gehört. Weiß jemand etwas dazu?
I now have 200 followers on Mastodon. That's less than 20% of my followers on the birdsite, but I still feel more at home here than on the birdsite. Of course I would love to see more #TYPO3 people here!
What I miss most on Mastodon is a proper search over all instances.
