Let's stay with great remakes a while longer. Of this one, too, I really enjoyed the original. But that remake, oh boy … Carpenter at his absolute best.
Really cool Fango piece on the differences between The Thing film and the book it was based on. Some wild differences, and some good history on the movie. This was a great read.
I know this is debated often, but I do not believe Childs is the thing because he is still wearing his earring in the same ear. The thing cannot copy metal.
McReady is the thing.
Earlier in the movie, the team decides to prepare their own food and eat out of cans because this would spread the thing. McReady shares his opened drink with Childs, then chuckles when he drinks it because McReady knows he just won.

I'd enjoy a 15min vid on competent amateur* water skiiers attempting downhill skiing/snowboarding for the first time and vice versa, to hear about how they felt and what surprised them about the differences.
Not pros. Pro athletes understand their bodies and limits so well that they start any new activity a leg or two up on anyone else.
