I beg to differ, Baldur Bjarnason. It's not fine if you're a blogger or a pundit, either. Seeking to profit from expediting the extinction of life on the planet ought to be treated as a crime of the highest order.

Chan school of public health), just made the call for considering air quality a fundamental public health issue in climate change, bc of its effect on asthma and other respiratory conditions.

On 9 and 10 September, I will be standing with 170 concerned organisations and thousands of concerned citizens on the edge of the A12 in The Hague. There we all demand an end to the tens of billions of euros in annual fossil subsidies. These are discounts and exemptions for companies such as Tata Steel, KLM, RWE and Shell.
Because after a summer full of climate records and the ever-visible effects of climate change, it's time for .. change! We are in an existential climate crisis and need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions directly instead of subsidizing the use of fossil fuels. And there are plenty of problems that can also be solved with these tens of billions: we zouden in Nederland de problemen in de zorg, het onderwijs, de woningmarkt of het OV kunnen oplossen of iets aan armoede kunnen doen.
The A12 Support Demonstration is organized by a coalition of the largest Dutch climate organizations including Greenpeace, Milieudefensie, Fossielvrij NL and Urgenda. During the A12 Support Demonstration we encourage the rebels of Extinction Rebellion who block the A12 from the sidelines and together with them we demand that the fossil subsidies be stopped immediately.
There is a great program with speakers, music, culture and science. With culture bearers such as Tim Hofman, Clarice Gargard, Aisha Dutrieux and Jeroen Siebelink, artists such as Hang Youth, Merol, Sophie Straat and LAKSHMI and top scientists such as Joyeeta Gupta and Kees Klomp.
I call on you to come to the Malieveld on 9 and/or 10 September and to demand an end to fossil subsidies together with a gigantic crowd.

Daar eisen we met z’n allen een einde aan de tientallen miljarden euro’s aan jaarlijkse fossiele subsidies. Dat zijn kortingen en vrijstellingen voor bedrijven als Tata Steel, KLM, RWE en Shell.
Want na een zomer vol klimaatrecords en de steeds zichtbaar wordende effecten van klimaatverandering is het tijd voor .. verandering! We zitten in een existentiële klimaatcrisis en moeten de uitstoot van broeikasgassen direct terugbrengen in plaats van het gebruik van fossiele brandstoffen te subsidiëren.
